Description: SOLO Pizza Napulitana (SOLO) There is a little piece of Napoli located in a small corner of Sharq, in Kuwait City; where owner and Pizzaiolo, pizza maker, Amr AlRefai, wanted to introduce the concept of a true and simple Neapolitan pizza experience. Established in 2011, 'SOLO' is the first pizzeria in Kuwait to be awarded the Seal of Authenticity by the Association of True Neapolitan Pizza, "Vera Pizza Napoletana (VPN)", becoming the 353rd member in the world. This pizza is made with the freshest of ingredients, cooked in a traditional wood-fired oven built by fourth generation Neapolitans, and shipped all the way over from Napoli. Flash baked and fire kissed, SOLO's pizza, in one bite, has your taste buds begging for more. When making a pizza, artisan pizzaioli in Napoli are creating a magnificent work of art. All the flavors of Napoli: fluffy handmade dough, rare San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, lush green basil, and extra virgin olive oil come together to create this masterpiece; where "less is more". Like the traditional pizzaioli of Napoli, the pizzeria runs according to a strict code of values: simplicity, authenticity, honesty, integrity, and respect. This small pizzeria conveys all that is Napoli, where old meets new. The delightful smell of pizza baking inviting you in, creates a cozy and warm atmosphere. Step inside 'SOLO', and taking center stage, is the traditional wood-fired oven decorated in tiny tiles of smoky grey and fire red orange. Take a seat in any of the marble tables or at the bar, to get an up close view of the traditional pizza making in action. In the end, all that matters, is that a little piece of Napoli is about to be served steaming hot, right in front of you, and as the Italians say "Buon appetito!"

Solo Pizza has the most delicious pizza and great services. It is a very small restaurant that gives you a New York feel.

“Amazing pizza for the local market”
Reviewed April 29, 2014

I'm a big pizza buff, and I make sure to try it wherever I can. Napulitana is right next door (as in I don't need to get on a plane to have it), and I must admit it is probably some of the best pizza I've had in Kuwait. I know that might not be saying much, but for someone who lives here, it's certainly a great deal better than the fast good joints or the wannabes.

I don't know where the other reviewers were to claim that the actual pie was soft and soggy - I normally order the Diavlo, and it's been consistently great. The pie is crusty on the edges, and soft on the center (as it should be). The toppings are not too much to overload the pizza (a good pizza is a balanced pizza, not one piled high with toppings) and the ingredients are fresh.

Overall, I guess it boils down to a question of taste. Having tried pizza from all four corners of the world, I would highly recommend Napulitana to anyone looking for honest, simple pizza.

“More variety ”
Reviewed April 24, 2014 via mobile

Although it known as one of the pizza outlets in Kuwait city, I think that the menu should include more options for the pizza and dessert.

“Overrated and Simply Aweful”
Reviewed April 17, 2014

Once again I ignored the warnings on some of the reviews and decided to go for it at my own expense. Be warned that the criticism about this 'restaurant' (and I use the word loosely!').. are all correct.. starting from the one in 2012 to the recent ones. I went with friends to this place with the hope of finding a good pizza place.. what we got was a soggy piece of pastry.. with barely anything on top... costing something like $20 each. Add the sodas to that at extortionist price and you really leave the restaurant still hungry having payed a bomb for nothing. What we got for supposedly a 'Marinara' is not the traditional real Italian seafood pizza.. but just a very thin pizza base with a soggy sauce on top..with one or two pieces of mushroom on the whole thing.
If locals really think this is authentic Italian, then this must have been the first time they ate in a restaurant! You have been warned, so try and find another pizza place as this is not worth the trip.
