Description: SOLO Pizza Napulitana (SOLO) There is a little piece of Napoli located in a small corner of Sharq, in Kuwait City; where owner and Pizzaiolo, pizza maker, Amr AlRefai, wanted to introduce the concept of a true and simple Neapolitan pizza experience. Established in 2011, 'SOLO' is the first pizzeria in Kuwait to be awarded the Seal of Authenticity by the Association of True Neapolitan Pizza, "Vera Pizza Napoletana (VPN)", becoming the 353rd member in the world. This pizza is made with the freshest of ingredients, cooked in a traditional wood-fired oven built by fourth generation Neapolitans, and shipped all the way over from Napoli. Flash baked and fire kissed, SOLO's pizza, in one bite, has your taste buds begging for more. When making a pizza, artisan pizzaioli in Napoli are creating a magnificent work of art. All the flavors of Napoli: fluffy handmade dough, rare San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, lush green basil, and extra virgin olive oil come together to create this masterpiece; where "less is more". Like the traditional pizzaioli of Napoli, the pizzeria runs according to a strict code of values: simplicity, authenticity, honesty, integrity, and respect. This small pizzeria conveys all that is Napoli, where old meets new. The delightful smell of pizza baking inviting you in, creates a cozy and warm atmosphere. Step inside 'SOLO', and taking center stage, is the traditional wood-fired oven decorated in tiny tiles of smoky grey and fire red orange. Take a seat in any of the marble tables or at the bar, to get an up close view of the traditional pizza making in action. In the end, all that matters, is that a little piece of Napoli is about to be served steaming hot, right in front of you, and as the Italians say "Buon appetito!"

The restaurant is on a small side street and has only a few small tables in a simple, casual setting. The menu doesnt have a lot of variety but whatever is on it is absolutely divine
Whenever I go I order the caprese salad, which is tasty, and the pizzas especially the nutella pizza is a must have .

As mentioned in my previous review, it is very difficult to find a restaurant in Q8 that DOESN'T belong to a chain. I lived in Italy, and always loved these little pizza places with the pizza al forno....
No matter where you live in Q8 this is definitely worth going and finding as it is hidden in a very unusual area and maybe still considered a secret tip....
Amazing food and service, hope there will be more young Q8is with brilliant business ideas like this one.
Sometimes the pizza is a bit sucky, but you tell them to bake it a lil longer and it is all good : )

If you're in Kuwait and you're tired of eating sub standard food in shopping malls and want to eat somewhere that has a bit of a buzz and atmosphere about it I can recommend this place. As previous reviewers have mentioned it's not in a salubrious area but I think that's part of it's charm. There was something lovely about seeing Porsches and Bentleys and Ferraris parked in a haphazard way outside this place and to see it packed with young Kuwaitis just hanging out and enjoying a pizza - not to mention that the chefs and staff seem to be from Kuwait which makes this place unique I think. The pizza is the best we have found here - it's simple, thin based and they use fresh ingredients - oh and they serve it with a smile which counts for a lot! We both ordered and enjoyed a Margarita each - our only complaint is that it could have been cooked underneath a little more. Also, it was great to see some young Kuwaiti student waitresses getting some hands on experience. We'd definitely go back.

After hearing rave reviews of this place, I finally plucked up the courage for the perilous drive to Kuwait City to check it out. Even though the restaurant lies in the shadows of the impressive downtown skyline, it is not situated in the most salubrious neighborhood I've even seen. Despite this, it's truly a refreshingly, small and charming space, with very few tables. We arrived fairly early, were the first customers and thusly were able to snag a table al fresco. A pair of young Kuwaitis came to welcome us and give us the menu, which has just a few items (pizzas, salads and drinks). I was most impressed as I had never seen Kuwaiti youths working in a restaurant. They were very polite, professional and had wonderful English.
We only ordered pizzas (funghi & pepperoni) and a drink. The pizzas were huge and extremely tasty. The "funghi" and basil were fresh and plentiful. I've lived in Italy and these offerings compared very favorably with mama's own. The only room for improvement would be to make the crust just a tad crispier.
My friend ordered a mini version of the one dessert on the menu, "Donna Nutella", which was, in essense, half a pizza-sized crepe with cheese and, as the name implies, Nutella chocolate spread. I didn't try it but my friend thought it delicious.
I highly recommend this place for the food and the unique ambiance, for Kuwait at least.

Wish the pizza had more cheese, but it really is a great pizza. The best thing though is the cheese bread appetizer, its so cheesy and I enjoyed more than the pizza. Like a fancy italian version of the pizza hut stuffed crust... so good!
