Stayed for 4 nights in the old wing. Room/bathroom were old and dated and would be at 3-star level at best. General service was poor- reception in particular was unhelpful. Staff would agree to do something but would not follow-thru; it took half a day and multiple reminders to get an adaptor. Food in restaurant was decent especially the lunch buffet.

A pleasant enough sort of place, restaurants and food could do with some improvement and wifi could be added to rooms. That apart the desk staff and business centre staff were all very helpful and pleasant. Room was fine, quite well appointed, clean and tidy and warm in the sub zero temperatures outside. Most foreigners visiting Tehran seem to stay here and as such the standards are reasonably high.

Spend several nights in the Estghlal Grand in Tehran. In a goed area, nearby the Valli Asr Street, and the Mellat Park.
The view of the hotel is stunning. Mountains, mountains!!
The red carpet invites you to come in when you enter. The lobby is big', bright and spacious. Friendly staff, as most of the Iranian people are.
My room was good. 2 Beds, nice bathroom with the things I needed. Tv-set, with lots of channels. But I did not watch the tv that much.
Staff of the hotel, e.g. housekeeping, and roomservice is doing there best. Most of the time succesfull.
Food is ok. But I like the Iranian food! Also the restaurant in the hotel!
I was aible to use a courtesy bus, and enjoyed this beautifull capitol of Iran. Shopping near Vanak Shopping center and the area of Meidan -e Ferdosi. Good stay. and every where you look these mountains.
Will I come back to Tehran? Sure!!!
My overall experiende for the hotel is neutral, but for the countryside, the shops, the street-life, and his people I would rate: excellent!

Not to be compared to European 5 stars, but very decent. Make sure you stay in the west wing which has been restored. A few details, like the carpet in the corridors, need seeing to, the air conditioning and some of the furniture are still the original 70s' Hiltons' but in good shape (besides, I am not fussy and find it charming). Rooms are comfortable and impeccably clean. Wi-Fi in all rooms and fully-equipped business centre in the lobby. Good shopping centre, including Casa del Habano where they have rare Cuban Cigars, etc. Friendly staff, reasonable restaurants where they even serve beer, swimming pool is reserved for men and women at different times. Besides the odd beer no alcohol is served.

Persians are incredibly polite and welcoming, but are also very proud. Treat them respectfully, try to avoid controvertial subjects or discuss them diplomatically, and they will be incredibly kind.

This was my first visit to Iran. The Hotel was not as bad as it's been rated here in Tripadvisor. I was acually impressed b/c I didn't think Iran was as nice as it was, especially this hotel. I personally don't think of it as a 5 star hotel, but it was very nice, very clean, the food is delicious, and they have very good service. I think they tried to be extra nice to me b/c i didn't speak Farsi, but the people are very sweet and helpful.
