“Loved the food, hated the service!!”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

I don't know why but it seems that their staff (at least the older guy who seems to be the senior waiter) did not pass any training on how to treat customers properly!!
Anyway, except that, quality of food, atmosphere and volume of each dish are at their best.
We had Chiken Makani, Shai Ghormeh, Double onion meat and 2 types of cooked rice (egg rice and curry flavored rice). I can say that all of them are perfect, but my favorite is Chicken Makani.
Tandoor's Food is spicy but not that hot that you can't eat. I even asked them for extra hot chilies.
Some points to consider:
- Ask the waiter to provide Rice dishes based on his experience. He can better say how many dishes are enough for you. (Don't order rice for each person, it would be more than you think)
- For parking, you might have some problems (BTW, we found a parking space easily in the same street)
- Make a reservation if you have plans to be there over the weekend
- Price of each dish is between 200,000 IRR to 300,000 IRR or 5 to 8 Euro (Chicken Makani = 200,000 IRR), Shrimp = 400,000 IRR or 9 Euro.

“Good food, weird location”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

The food was an above average indian dish. You will not find the oil/spice complexity you would expect from a good indian magic. If KFC is american for chicken tandoor reigns the same page. The location and decoration is more of a Hungarian fortuneteller's apartment.

“Delicious Indian food (for a typical Iranian)”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

It was our 3rd time vising Tandoor restaurant in Safir hotel. It's located in Mofatteh St. (below "7th of Tir" square)
We always make reservations before we go and I recommend doing it specially in weekends.
If you're going there in a group, try different foods and share them, this way you'll get to taste several dishes which is great.
We tried Chicken Masala, "Roghan joosh" and "Shai Ghormeh" and they all tasted good.
You can order 2-3 types of bread (filled with vegetables and other stuff) as appetizer. But if you do so, order less food as breads will make you almost full.
The other point is that let the waitress decide on the number of "Rice" dishes instead of you. They will bring enough rice so just tell him about the type of rice. We had "Curry rice" and "Fried Egg rice" and I loved them both.
Their food is not that hot that you can't eat but relatively (to Italian cousin for example) it's hot.
Comparing to Taj Mahal restaurant, Tandoor has "Less oily" food.
Comparing to Chingari, I prefer the taste of Tandoor's food. (although some of my Indian friends told me that Chingari has a more original Indian taste)
Food price is about 18,000 to 30,000 Toman (March 2013). you should expect about 40,000 toman per person (if you order some appetizers and food for everyone)
There's a building construction happening in front of the hotel at this time (March 2013) so park your car a bit before the entrance to avoid possible accidents.
