“One of Tehran's must-see!”
Review of Cinema Museum

Cinema Museum

The building is 170~180 years old and the architecture is the best thing about the complex. Awesome! It is related to the late Agha-Muhammad-Khan-e-Ghajar era.
There are different kinds of flowers and a small beautiful fountain in front of the building.
If you are interested in cinema industry or history of cinema in Iran, visiting the museum is highly recommended. Don't forget to check the working hours of the museum before going there.
There are 2 coffee shops in the garden, there's a famous one in the eastern part of the garden. You can have a nice cup of coffee while you're enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of the garden.
There is a media store near the coffee shop, in which you can buy classical & Iranian music! The store also has famous Iranian movies with English subtitles.
Beside the media store, there is an accessory shop, in which you can find beautiful modern bracelets, necklaces (maybe shawls).
After visiting the garden, I recommend you to take a walk around the neighborhood. You will see big houses with modern & fancy architecture (somehow European style)

The museum is located in a very beautiful old mansion surrounded by a garden in the district of Zaaferanie. While the museum itself was not particularly interesting, it's worth a visit just to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The highlight of the museum is a tiny cinema in the basement showing the silent movie "Dokhtare lor".

The museum has both Farsi and English descriptions and shows the history or Iranian Cinema through personal effects, awards, and photographs. I would have enjoyed seeing more footage from films or been as to purchase DVDs of some of the films.
