Alborz Restaurant is one of the best one for those who love Persian cuisine, specially all kind of Kebabs. Please consider that the restaurant is classified in very expensive stage.

Kebabs in Alborz are longer than the usual size in Alborz. They are enough to feed 3 and are juicily delicious. Do not, I repeat, do not loose the opportunity to treat yourself to an unforgettable meal.

chelokabab is now the symbolic food to order in Iran although it is less than 2 centuries old. This consists of barbequed and skewered pieces of meat called barg or skewered minced meat called koobideh. There are other mixtures, but the main ones are these two. All combinations come with rice and barbequed tomatoes and sometimes with barbequed pepper. the main spice that is used is sumac. the traditional drink is doogh, a mixture of yoghurt with water and spices, mainly mint. this is called ayran in Turkey.

Chelokabab was "invented" by a person called nayeb ol doleh who used to cook for nassereddin shah (a qajar king) circa 125 years ago. after he left the court, he started his own business and was quite successful. originally you paid upon entrance and could eat all you wanted, but this changed a long time ago.

Alborz is a very famous restaurant in tehran, but it is just for bragging that I have been there, there are many fine and cheaper places to have chelokabab.
