We stayed here for our first month in Bahrain whilst we looked for somewhere to live, so my review is based on a stay that we weren't actually paying for ourselves (except for extras). The place was immaculately clean for our whole stay, very spacious and the staff were friendly and courteous enough. Whilst they tried to assist where they could, they were unfortunately not very helpful in addressing some general queries such as giving directions or restaurant recommendations (unless you like fast-food!), and when I asked them to book a taxi, it was the most expensive taxi ride I have ever had in Bahrain (I would recommend looking up the phone number for "Speedy" in the daily paper and calling your own taxi from the room instead).

The roof top pool was always clean and enjoyable to use (despite the nearby construction work) and the gym had an interesting mix of equipment; It's ok if you enjoy a treadmill or cycle, but if you like your weights, unfortunately dumbbells only went to 10kg (without a bench) and were alongside a random leg curl and chess press machine.

If you can brave the Bahraini driving style and are able to do so, I would certainly recommend hiring a car (rather than relying on taxis). The supermarket is only a 10/15minute walk away, but in 40C exposed heat this can quickly feel rather unbearable especially if you are carrying shopping, and yet it also felt a little ridiculous waiting 40 mins or so for a taxi to collect for such a short journey... alternatively you could just be better organised than I am, and simply plan in advance.

The lack of internet in our apartment was the biggest negative point, particularly as there was no apology or explanation for this despite other apartments having access. As a result of this, I ended up walking to one of the surrounding hotels each day to use their cafe wi-fi facilities.

Juffair has a big American influence which means there is a good (but very smoky) sports bar located within walking distance of the hotel at Hotel Diva. The nearby "American Alley" has plenty of fast food style restaurants available within a short taxi journey and Bennigans burger restaurant and bar is within walking distance of the hotel. There are also various nightclubs around such as Davy Crocketts (Hotel Diva again) and Klub360. Unfortunately, fast-food in American-sized portions and cheesy nightclubs aren't really my thing so it was difficult to appreciate the location, but for those who enjoy Juffair there is plenty on offer. Since our stay, a sky-bar has also recently opened in Hotel Diva and this may have been more my kinda place to go out at the time. Alternatively, Adliya is very close-by and offers a wide selection of good restaurants (but the hotel staff didn't think to mention this to us!)

Three female travellers stayed for 5 nights in March 2013. Apartment was very clean, pool was really well kept: staff were very helpful : all in all would recommend!! Only criticism is that I think the airport pick up was a little steep but car was nice and driver very friendly

The Elite is probably my favourite place to stay in Bahrain on a medium budget. There are cheaper places but they normally fall into the "dive" category. In a reasonably quiet location (see note on rooms below) but still within walking distance of good bars and restaurants within Jaffair.
The staff are always very pleasent and eager to please and generally happy to help with all requests. Rooms are well appointed with adequate kitchen facilities, good lounge area and big bedrooms. The swivel TV facility is fun although they did not factor in how to change the satallite channel when you are in bed! Reasonable bathrooms and nice roof top pool area that can be good fun if you are visiting with friends.
However....... ask for a high floor room if you are planning on an early night as the disco in the hotel next door can be a bit loud on the lower floors. Bathrooms are getting a little dated and suggest you run the water for a good while to make sure it is hot. Room we stayed in had recently added a seperate dvd player which was useful as the old stereo dvd facility was poor. Need to update the TV's to flatscreen!

Room Tip: Stay away from lower floors if you want a good nights sleep!

Just had a good weekend stay. Reception polite and helpful, controlled access parking and clean public areas. Excellent gym and good sized rooftop pool. 2 bed apartment was big and well equipped and we would go again as it was very good value. Only fault was slightly old plumbing and filthy windows.
