A well established well run 5* hotel, with excellent amenities. There is a superb choice of restaurants with many different cuisines - and a delightful outdoor pool area to relax after work. The best feature is the premium lounge on the 13th floor - great views over the city, quiet and highly efficient service, with snacks and drinks avaailable all day.

I stayed there with family for 2 days and service was courteous and customer oriented.
Restaurant and bakery section was good. Pool was in good shape and enjoyable.
I'll chose this hotel again at any given time.........................

Room Tip: Rooms not on the top are always better in Bahrain ..if you know what i mean :)

We stayed here for one night in October and for the privce we paid it was very good. The room was well appointed and quiet. We were away from the lifts; which was bonus.

We had tea & coffee making facilities and in the morning when we rang for more tea bags not only did they bring us polenty, they then rang us to be sure we were happy with the delivery.

The bed was very comfortable and the room was not too hot.

I would definitely stay here agin and would recommend to anyone visiting Bahrain.

My only criticism was the speed of checking in & out, we waited about 20 mins to check in and about the same for check out, due to there not being enough staff on during these busy periods.

Based on the impressive hall (front desk) and cost, you could expect more from this hotel. The rooms are nice, but nothing too special. The pool area is really beautiful, but remember you are in an Arab country and you do not feel too comfortable being with your family in the pool.
The main restaurant has good food, but it was expensive. Most restaurants were closed because it was Ramadan time.

The Gulf Hotel is a very nice hotel. The room was very clean but the pool was the main attraction for us and our baby. The pool, with its waterfalls and large kiddie area and swimup bar were just what we were looking for in a weekend getaway.

The only downside we experienced was with one of the restaurants. My husband went to the buffet lunch area at 1:30 in the afternoon and wanted to have lunch. Because he hadn't made a reservation he was turned away. The restaurant was completely empty and he was told that all of the tables were reserved. He went to the front desk to speak to a manager, but he was also unhelpful. The manager told him the only place he could get something to eat without a reservation was by the pool or room service.

While we had a nice stay at the hotel, the restsurant issue left a bad taste in our mouths.

I've been staying at this hotel since 2000. Upon entry it's a beautiful hotel. However; Checking in and Checking out is one of the most painful experiences in my life. You would think a hotel of this rating would have modern processes/procedures, equipment, etc. NOT!! They run around like chickens with their heads cut off making manual copies, loading keys, running credit cards, etc. etc. etc.. Plan on this process taking up to 20-30 minutes sometimes, where hotels anywhere else have you in/out in <5 minutes. I would have thought over the last 12 years this issue would have been fixed. I spoke to numerous others waiting in line to check out during my last visit and they said this place has always had a reputation for being as slow as a snail.

I was fortunate enough to be placed in the new wing this trip, which was a fairly nice room. My colleague was placed in the old wing, where I've always been placed before. According to my colleague the rooms are still in need of major repair / updating. It appears they are allowing this section of the hotel to run into the ground. The restaurants on site are good, however nothing to go running home bragging about. If the conference I attend every 2 years wasn't at this hotel I would most likely find another place to stag.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay at the Gulf Hotel Bahrain.

I am sorry that you found certain aspects of your stay not to your satisfaction, particularly the check-in process. Please accept my apologies. I would like to point out that the check-in requirements at our hotel are no different from that at any other property. Printing of key cards and requesting a credit card imprint are standard practice. It is fair to say that when we have a major event in the hotel and we are running at 100% occupancy that there may be slight delays however we believe this would be true of any hotel.

Despite this we would like to thank you for your comments as it is only through feedback such as yours that we can properly evaluate our service standards and react accordingly.

Kind regards,

I've been going to this hotel since 2005, and I am sad to say that this is my last stay. I had numerous plumbing problems, uncomfortable bed, and little sleep on Thursday and Friday nights due to loud partying Arabs. This hotel just is not as nice as it used to be. There are so many newer and more promising hotels in town now, so I will not be staying here next time. On a positive note, the pool is still gorgeous, as are the grounds. The restaurants are convenient and tasty, but very expensive.

Dear Love2Travel,

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay at the Gulf Hotel Bahrain. I am sorry that you found certain aspects of your stay to be unsatisfactory.

I am sorry that during you stay you were disturbed by partying Arabs, although as we are in the Middle East this could clearly happen at any hotel. We have taken note of your comments regarding the price of our restaurants. Obviously as a five star hotel we believe our prices reflect the standards and quality that we provide. We also conduct frequent competitor price surveys to ensure we are in line with what other hotels are charging.

hank you once again for your feedback as it is only through comments such as yours that we can evaluate the quality of our products and services.
