“Good Food, Bad Service”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

Not the first time to go to Kempinski Hotel in Middle East, Second time to the same hotel in Bahrain.
The food was nice, the menu was very short and has breif items, salad bar is fantastic I advise you to go for it (BD 5.500 = US$ 21).
But the people there has no attitude and service is very poor. No proper communication manners and you really need to ask for everything.

I got Humous and provided french bread with it!! tell me is this normal?
Staff don't ask you if you need something, or whether everything is fine.

There was so much noise coming from the mall, and a loud piano sound coming from the hotel lobby.

My guest couldn't finish the food so we asked for take out, the waiter said ok and went to wrapp it. The supervisor seem upset and spoke to the waiter on the otherside of the restaurant then the waiter disappeared. When we asked for him he came and told us that he was sorry and food was not allowed outside the hotel? but he gave it to us anyway, but really what is this?

“Dissapointing dinner”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

The Saveur restaurant offers a nice range of international food. The meals starts with a selection of excellent french bread served with fresh butter tomatoes and seasonned cheese. We tried the boeuf bourguignon and the risotto with salmon. The boeuf bourguignon sauce was great but the meat was overcooked. The risotto was excellent but the salmon did not have taste, it could have accomodated with some herbs or even some lemon, just to enhance the fish flavours. It is also worth noticing that we have been waiting a while for the food to be served. The staff was friendly but too present, constantly disturbing the dinner. For the price asked, food could / should have been better. Finally, we will probably not go back to this restaurant.

“Fine dining within the Bahrain City Centre shopping mall”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

The Saveur menu exhibits a good range of contemporary international dishes which I am sure will satisfy every type of palate. I sampled several starters and my favourite was the rock shrimp tempura with chili miso dip and daikon soy sauce. Delectable. Fresh shrimp, cooked and seasoned to perfection with a wonderful accompanying sauce. Recommended. A close second was the crab tempura Caesar salad with parmesan and pine nuts. A very good salad, light, refreshing and tasty. I also sampled the home made tagliatelle with truffle and aged parmesan. A very good starter. Rich and creamy cheese sauce with tasty slivers of truffle. There is also a choice of cauliflower soup with duck rillettes (pate) beignet (deep fried dough) and truffle or tomato consommé with asparagus and assorted root vegetables and chives.
For the main course you can order quiche, Turkish pide or pizza from the stone wooden oven or there is a choice of steaks from the grill or fish (dover sole or turbot) or veal or beef. A good range of options but at the same time focused.

My favourite main course was the slow cooked veal shank with saffron barley, gremolata (chopped herb condiments) and root vegetables. A very good dish. Melt in your mouth veal drenched in a succulent full bodied sauce. Well cooked. Very flavoursome. Highly recommended. I also tried the 250 gm US sirloin with assorted vegetables and the Dover sole with brown butter, sautéed spinach and parsley potatoes. The Dover sole was a touch dry and was not as succulent as it should have been. The US sirloin was cooked well but I felt that the accompanying sauce needed a bit more to make it superb.

My three daughters ordered the pizza margarita from the stone wooden oven and judging from the fact that nothing was left I can safely assumed that they enjoyed it!

Saveur’s prices are pretty much in line with the prices of other similar high caliber fine dining restaurants. The Christmas set menu of three courses was good value at BD18 (excluding 20% service charge and government levy) and many of the starters are competitively priced. The more exotic options are, as you would expect, more expensive with the Dover sole and the Wagyu tenderloin each priced at BD39.

Saveur is a welcome addition to Bahrain’s restaurant scene and I would definitely recommend anyone who enjoys fine dining to give Saveur a try. If you have had a busy day shopping at Bahrain City Centre Mall you would certainly end your day on a high by treating yourself to the wonderful cuisine and fabulous service at Saveur.

Amazing selection of desserts! the pastry chef is truly amazing. Everytime i go there the dessert section always amazes me. I wish they had carrot cake in their selection.
coffee is good but I've had better. However the staff is very attentive and they really provide a pleasant experience.
