The Guest House is owned and run by Glen, an English lady who has been in Bahrain for twenty years. Anything you need to know about Bahrain - she is happy to advise you. It is such a friendly house and brilliant value for money. Breakfast is a buffet, which is so casual and a real joy to chat to the other guests. When we arrived at the breakfast table each morning we were greeted by a fresh cafetiere of coffee prepared by Leena the charming housemaid, who also cleans the rooms daily. In conclusion all I can say is, thanks to Glen for an excellent base to renew our acquaintance with Bahrain.

this place is run by un unfriendly women with no manners. The cats are everywhere , in your room, in your bed. This house is not in Amwaj but in Jufair , the R&R place for American soldiers.
I would not recommend this place

First thing to note is that the Bahrain Guest House has MOVED closer to the city. The Guest House is now in Juffair, much closer to Bahrain’s major restaurant & nightlife district, although it remains on a very quiet waterfront street. The Guest House is in a large (near palatial) villa with an attached garden and pool, which guests are welcome to use. The rooms are large, with ensuite bathrooms, and a large common area with widescreen TV, fridge, tea & coffee, etc. It is still Glen’s house, and Glenn remains as friendly and helpful as ever. Continental breakfast is included and apparently lasts just about as long as you like – we sat and chatted with fellow guests for hours. There’s WiFi available if you bring your computer. Highly recommended.

If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive place to stay in Manama that has its own private beach, this may be the place. The owner, Glen, is very hospitable and willing to share information about Bahrain and the surrounding area. This could be invaluable to someone relocating here. One of the major downsides to this place is its location. There is literally nothing in the way of restaurants, except for a couple of coffee shops and fast food places. It's necessary to drive back into Manama to get anything else. Also, although the propietor says,"There's lots of fish" to look at in the water of the swimming lagoon outside the guesthouse, it's actually much too shallow, salty and warm for much of anything but a few stalwart tiny fish and crustaeans to survive. She does have kayaks and a peddle boat for use, however the wind was blowing 20knots during our stay making kayaking not that pleasant. Do come here for a very quiet, private, stay and bring your own food and drink. Don't come here looking for a snorkel holiday and 'fabulous shopping' (as we were told) at the new mall (not open yet) in Amaj.

We stayed last November (took me a while to post this!!) & we were very pleased with everything.
The location is amazing (Amwaj Islands) & is about a 5/10 minute drive from the airport and about 15/20 minutes from Manama centre.
Bahrain Guest House is run by Glennis (v friendly english lady). She has a lovely maid who makes sure the guesthouse is kept very clean & she even made us some scrambled eggs one morning on request! Glennis also has a very cute small black poodle called TuTu who is very friendly & likes to greet you with her wagging tail! Glennis took the time as soon as we arrived to show us the areas where there are restaurants & shops too (she drove us around them)
The rooms are spacious and extremely modern, We stayed in the larger double room which had a balcony & stunning bathroom with huge walk in shower etc - it was always very clean.
There is air con if you need it, although we didn't as it wasn't that hot.

I would really recommend the Bahrain Guest House to anyone visiting Bahrain. I would also recommend most of the restaurants in Juffair especially the arabic restaurant and the curry restaurant.

To travel, you need to pick up a car from the airport and then you are only a 15min drive away from this clean and comfortable Guest house run by Glen, a lady from Yorkshire. It is situated on an island in the north and the beautiful back garden overlooks a tranquil area of sea where you have the opportunity to swim or make use of the kayaks.
The interior is traditional with a modern feel and open-plan, looked after by a maid. Continental breakfast is self-sevice with ample choice and our bedroom was a good size having en-suite and balcony at the rear with a great view of the sea and all the properties on the other side. There was need for air-conditioning at night and our only critism was that this tended to be noisy. The tea-making facilites was a great bonus and there was bottled water on the landing
Glen took time to show us how to get around and where to find good restaurants and was always helpful. Wifi is free to use on your own laptop.
Our 3 day stay was very pleasant if you want to be away from the city and it was nice to return after sight-seeing.

I have recently relocated from the UK to Bahrain with work and I was the first employee to arrive in Bahrain and was looking for a serviced flat for the month until I located a suitable home for the long term.

I struggled to get any decent information from the internet searches and people I contacted until I saw an advert in the Gulf Daily News for the Bahrain Guest House which is run by Glennis who originally comes from Yorkshire.

It is an ideal base for someone on their own or as a couple who are relocating and need a short term base to explore Bahrain and find the area that they want to move to longer term. Glennis has been in Bahrain for 16 years and what she does not know about the Island and property its not worth knowing!

The guest house is located on the lovely man made island of Amwaj which is 10 mins from the airport and situated in the north east corner of the island. It is 20 mins in the rush hour from the Financial Harbour and Manama city centre.

There are 5 en-suite rooms and breakfast is provided with an evening meal upon request in advance.

The house has a nice garden and backs onto a private beach and the sea with views towards Tala Island which is part of Amwaj.
