Description: The restaurant is situated in a grand pagoda in the grounds of the hotel's tropical gardens and provides scenic views overlooking the turquoise waters of the outdoor swimming pool. The authenticity of this exotic setting is further enhanced inside the restaurant as guests are greeted with enchanting Asian décor and world class Thai cuisine. A spectacular seafood menu offers visitors a huge choice of temptation with lobster, crab, snow fish and hamour that can be fried, steamed, curried and spiced to perfection by the culinary team.

A bit pricey but the service and food was great! The pad thai was really solid. It was really quite and not at all lively.

“Bland Food in a Grand Setting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2012

Acceptable value for money if you are a Gulf Prestige Card holder, I wouldn't recommend it otherwise. If you are like me, you like authentic Thai food (which means hot and spicy). Thai food at Royal Thai is modified to suit the Arab palate. When you complain that the food is not spicy, the Thai waitress just apologizes and says come again next time. I often carry chili with me to add to food in Bahrain restaurants but why should I have to do this in an outlet in a five star hotel? The whole point of five stars is to please your guests to the maximum extent humanly possible, not to provide lame excuses. I find that at other Thai restaurants I don't have this problem e.g. Wang Thai (Adliya) or Lanna Thai (Budaya) -- you ask for it hot, you get it smoking.
Still, the decor is impressive, true to it name Royal Thai, the premises of the restaurant is palatial in Thai grand style; and it is a undoubtedly a cool place to kick back and relax while dining If you fancy it, ostrich meat is even of the menu. (I tried it but actually you cannot really deterimine what meat you are eating so to my mind, not worth going out of your way to order.)

“I will give it another shot”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2012

Exterior gives the impression there may be some va va voom, interior is high ceilinged, empty, a little bland. Tom yam was great (isn't it always?) seafood "basket" for 2 was prima facie good value but chargrilled seafood turned out to be mushy and water logged for the most part. How anyone can serve shrimps this bad in this part of the world... Salmon(!?) was done to a turn however. The seafood basket special served with bland rice and left over dipping sauces from the prawn crackers. Promised much, delivered little. Perhaps the less flamboyant dishes are better.... note to self: never let the wife order....
