“Probably the worst hotel that I have stayed in over the last 30 years”

How this ghastly hotel obtains any rating is beyond me. The receptionist was offhand and difficult although we had confirmed reservations and he had plenty of rooms. The rooms were old and dirty. The window was tiny. The curtains were soiled. The restaurant was deplorable for breakfast. The whole place was rundown and uncared for. The street was unpaved and it was very noisy. There are many much better hotels in Riyadh which I have visited often since 1976. I would rate this hotel below some of the old Soviet hotels that I have had to stay at in Siberia and other parts of Russia.

This has to be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The bed linen was soiled, the breakfast inedible and the rooms filthy. To be avoided at all costs. I have no idea how trip advisor got its rating for this place. It is truly appauling. Less than one star.

I stayed in this hotel few months ago. I booked for Deluxe room which is very cheap and I got what I paid for. It is not a renovated room but it's Ok for me. I saw the other rooms which is cost higher but its a good and nice room. The location is also good! Near the shopping mall and restaurant with easy access for taxi..

I stayed 3 nights at the GT Andalusia and can only say, definitely not entirely 4 star as the websites may suggest. I'll be as objective as possible.

What I found to be 3 star is: old hotel, old premises, old furniture, old carpeting. The room looks like it has not been cleaned for ages. Was afraid to step barefoot on the room carpeting. Room service is medium to mediocre. The room service personnel, though not impolite, but very unmotivated when taking the order over the phone. Wrong items delivered when ordering food. The worse part is you cannot return what you have NOT ordered as the room service boy will try to persuade you to take it, since it's already been 'cash registered'. Cutlery comes sticky and the tray on which the food is served looks like it has not been cleaned for months! The food quality is rather less than average. Orange juice is from a can and a brand I would not like to try again. I tried to dine in the hotel restaurant, and found the buffet unappealing. Tables were not clean.

What I found to be as 4 star is: friendly and confident check-in staff. Check-in and out very smooth. spacious lobby, elevators, corridors, room, and bathroom. Good bathroom soap, shampoo, towels, and even bath robe. Nice clean linen. Good TV channels. Good city location.

All in all I do not think it quite lives up to a 4 star..maybe 3.5 star

Stayed here for 3 nights in February 2009.

Arrived at 5am and the check-out was smooth.
The room was clean and the room service was 10/10.
Just like the other hotels I stayed in Saudi Arabia, the room service was very cheap.
I ordered the "Club Sandwich" a couple of times and it was REALLY tasty and cost only 20 rials (4,5 euros) .

The hotel has wirless internet available in each room and it costs 75 rials (around 16 euros) to have access for a full day. You'll pay at the reception and they give you a password.
It worked OK. However, the internet speed is nothing like in Europe, but thats normal for Saudi Arabia.

Even though I had the breakfast included, I only took it in the first day and it was OK. Nothing special.

The hotel location is very good. Right next to a PC market and on the "Olaya" which is the main street in Riyadh.
I wanted to do some sight-seeing, so I walked from the hotel to the "Al Faisalia" tower and then to the "Al-Mamlaka" (Kingdom Center) tower.
It took me some 30 minutes to get to "Al-Faisalia" and another 30 minutes to reach the "Al-Mamlaka" on foot.

In front of the hotel, on the other side of the street, there is big store specialized in selling "Dates" which would be a good souvinier.
