Services are below average, but facilities are a must in this country: swimming pool, sports club, squash courts and tennis courts.

Breakfast is average, especially if you like fruits and juices in the morning.

As expected from Intercontinental, a hotel that maintains their culture for a comfortable stay with a focus on the customer. Didn't use any of the facilities but tried the restaurant and café near the reception both of which were very satisfying with regards to quality of food and service. Breakfast at the Club level and in particular the evening snacks offered there were the only aspects in need of improvement.

Room Tip: I would just say a higher level room for a better view of Riyadh.

I stayed at the Intercontinental Riyadh a few weeks ago and have never had such a lousy experience at any other similarly priced hotel around the world. This criticism includes other parts of the middle east and even other hotels in the ksa.
Some of staff were quite friendly (expats), others (saudis) were extremely rude, arrogant, and seemed to hold some sort of strange grudge aimed at westerners who dared to "visit" (read - do business) in what is unquestionably one of the most boring and least interesting cities on the planet... go figure.

I recommend this hotel to masochists only.

Thanks.

A traveler.

Went to the coffee shop at the Palms Golf Club on the rounds of the Riyadh Intercontinental hotel for a meeting with new friends and was both amazed & delighted to sit outdoors on a lovely evening looking out on the golf club grounds: a totally unexpected open air expanse in the heart of Riyadh. The staff left us alone to talk for nearly three hours without interruption. Can't speak for the food or the golf, but having a pleasant & quiet vista was plenty to cheer about. The women among our group were especially thrilled at the chance to savor a bit of the outdoors.

Dear Guest dlosea,

Thank you for your review during your recent stay with us.

I am indeed very grateful to read your nice review about the status of our Golf Club Coffee Shop. It's been our vision to have a greenery and a sanctuary for wild birds in Riyadh. I hope that you have some time with your friends and business associates in this area once again.

With sincere regards.

The cafe close to the Front desk at the hotel, is a hit and miss experience. I and my family have been to this place many times over the past 10 years but over time the service has gone down tremendously. Last nail in the coffin was today. The Friday brunch or lunch what ever they want to call it was the lousiest I have ever seen at this hotel and at any hotel for that matter in recent years. Food dishes on the buffet were empty for good 10 to 20 minutes before the chef finally realized, the service is very slow and it would be a miracle to get what you ordered even though it was a buffet and the guys couldnt get the beverages order right, the seating is ample but totally mismanaged by the restaurant supervisors. We didnt make a reservation and were given a table as if a huge favor was done to out 10 generations, yet people coming much after us without reservations (we asked them) got much better tables than we did. In the end, the manager had a sweet sorry to offer along with complimentary beverages which we didnt touch. The entire operation is a mess and if it continues with the same management a shut down of the place is recommended till the time some one finds proper staff the manage and run the place. Will never visit again and so shouldn't others.
