Owner description: This holy stone is the eastern cornerstone of the Kaaba, the ancient stone building towards which all Muslims pray. Many Muslims believe that the stone (originally white but now black from absorbing the sins of man) fell from heaven during the time of Adam and Eve.

“Not very crowded”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

We completed our Umrah before the afternoon prayer. The Kaaba area was not crowded and we were able to touch the stone where the door parted for the prophet's mother in every round. After we completed Umrah and afternoon prayer we stood in line to kiss the black rock. The line moved at a decent speed. The guards made sure that no one stayed at the rock too long. Plus they moved both the mens and womens line. Just towards the end there were 3 women who cut line.

Overall the religious police was not very agressive. Although they did decide where you sat around the kabba.

Sadly due to the women men seperation, women do not get to pray in the main area around the Kaaba. We are moved into the haram area built around the Kaaba.

“Hajrul aswood”

To touch the stone and kissing is considered a sacred thing. But the crowd and the rush to touch it is tremendous that you will be crushed. Children, old people should be very careful. All through the day and night there is crowd to touch the stone. The saying is that the stone is from the heaven and was snowy white but now it has turned black by the sins of the people.

“Majestic”

Pilgrimages are not trying to line up in an orderly manner to kiss the Black Stone despite the Security Guards efforts to do so. It is always a regrettable scene and applies to both sexes.

“Queue Was Moving!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2012

When my family went to do Umrah (in Dec 12) it wasn't very busy. Therefore, the queue was moving quite fast and we had kissed the black stone in roughly 20 minutes.
