Definitely a location every muslim will visit - if you have the energy it's definitely worth the climb.

What can I say of this place. I had tears in my eyes each time I saw the Jabal. The cave uphill is sure the most enlightening place. Thanks to our Prophet for giving this lovely religion Islam - way of life. Peace be upon Him

this is where Prophet Muhammad PBUH received the first verses of the Quran. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Mecca.

Jabal-e-Noor is a great experience for adults and kids. If you plan on climing the long flight of stairs then try to go right after Fajr or close to Maghrib so then it's cooler. There are also camel rides and ATV rides for kids. There are no convenient way of using toilets there.

I had never before climbed up this mountain. The best was to reach the foothill and listen to the story. This time round, I had made the intention of climbing. So when the day arrived I got ready and joined the few in the group who were up for it. We started out at 4pm and started the climb at about 4.30pm. I had trainers to make it easier. Within 5 minutes some gave up due to the steep climb at the start. It takes the wind out of you. To be able to continue you need perseverance. But slowly and surely, we inched up stopping every few paces and the stations where hot and cold drinks are served. As you climb up, the view is amazing. Finally when you get to the top, you go down a few steps and have to squeeze through an opening in the rocks to get to the other side which opens up a bit. By this time it was dark and there are no lights. As you get through the rocks and emerge the other side there is a small area where it is said the Holy Prophet (pbuh) used to sit and meditate and it is here that he received his first revelation. This is one of the few places left here where you get to be in the place where the Holy Prophet (pbuh) sat and walked. The Saudi wahabis have destroyed everything else.
Yes you need to be strong to climb. Imagine the Holy Prophet (pbuh) did this regularly and his wife used to go up to take him food. Try it and you will experience something very rare.
