“OK but not the best in Makkah anymore; If you want Haram views go elsewhere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2011

We stayed here for 6 nights during umrah in early June 2011. The service is first class and cannot be faulted. All the staff are very attentive and will see to your every needs (including getting zamzam for you to take home!). The rooms were clean and spacious and the bathrooms were grand with large showers. Renovations were taking place so some of the lifts were out of order, but even then we could get to the haram quickly for salat. The continental breakfast is overwhelming and a bit too much when you come back from fajr and you want to sleep for a few more hours. In future we might just go for the room package. Managed to get a very good deal from the Hilton website during their Spring sale. Much cheaper than any travel agent could offer. Because of the relative cheap price we decided to treat ourselves to a "Haram view" room. That's when it all started going wrong! As you can see from the pictures, not quite a Haram view. If you are looking for that magical Haram view book yourself into any of the Makkah Clock Tower hotels next door. Overall good, but felt a bit duped by the room view. Oh yes, and internet is way over priced

Room Tip: On the top floors the middle rooms have the best views, but these are all twins

I stayed in Hilton Makkah Towers for 3 nights to perform Umra. My colleagues had told me that people in Makkah are arrogant as compared to people in Madinah. So after having a terrible experience in Movenpick Madinah, I was mentally prepared to face the worst.

However, it turned out to be an entirely different experience. The staff was very courteous and the check-in was a breeze. The porter accompanied us to the room and brought the luggage along.

The room was a surprise. It was very big and spacious having two bathrooms (but there was no bath tub) . The room is probably used to house 4 persons during rush days. The Haram View was not really Haram View. It only showed outside part of Haram from a side. I had expected a direct view of the Haram but I think it is not possible unless you are in direct line of Haram and are on a floor higher than 20th. The room had Tea/Coffee facility, Iron & Board, bathroom amenities, a small kitchenette, mini bar etc.

The poor part is that the Reception of the hotel is located right in the middle of Parking Area. At times, they don't let the private cars to come in to drop guests. I had to walk through Parking carrying my luggage to reach to Reception.

The lifts area for going to the rooms is not very good. It looks very old and anyone looking at it will classify this hotel as 3*. People were smoking there even though "No Smoking" sign was placed. None of the hotel staff seem to care about stoping them from smoking.

I also saw a sign somewhere that said, let's try to make Hilton a non-smoking place. Now, if you want to make a hotel non-smoking, you just ban smoking everywhere. Asking people to try is not enough.

The room service was good, efficient and accurate. The food quality was also good. I did not try the restaurants within the hotel.

You can go to KFC, Hardy's, Burger King and many arabic food outlets in the hotel shopping area. There are plenty of dining options within and around the hotel. These vary from very cheap to expensive depending on what you want to eat. There are shops in and around the hotel for everything that you want to buy.

The hotel is just outside Haram and has a Pray Area that is considered part of Haram by many. You can find Taxi outside the hotel easily.

Overall the hotel is good but it can not be called 5*. However there are no negatives to stop anyone from staying here.

Excellent location, great breakfast but service is not of Hilton standard.we were not allocated room till evening and we arrived early in the mornng. This hotel is overcrowded due to it's close location so services are extremely poor.Reception staff the worst.Clock tower hotels are similar distance and less busy.

MashAllah we travelled with my family 10 of us including infant and child. I stayed in this hotel approx 10 years ago.

The hotel is fully booked and extremely busy. But the service, room, check inn and staff are very good considering the number of people the hotel turns over.

Check in.
Quick and simple. We got their 10mins before Friday prayers; the receptionist checked us in quickly no hassle.

Room
We had to rooms with an door in between. The room was very good condition and clean. We didn't have harram view but it was still great.

Staff
Very helpful. I had a serious moan on a issue. Thereafter the staff were great very helpful and did really look after you.

Breakfast
Great selection; split over 3 floors. Again considering the number of people who go there the food was a great selection and fresh. Staff on hand to assist.

Location
Great location i would go bare foot to the mosque it was so close. However during the day the first 5-10 yards would burn my feet :-).

Kids
Great for kids.

Shopping centre has a good selection of shops. Had everything money changer, kfc, souvenir shops etc

Room Tip: If you can book harram view

The hotel is close to everything you want in Haram. There is this construction going on ( Zam Zam towers ) which may add to the noise level - but this is a temporary issue - no fault of the hotel.
Shop at orbitz and expedia to get a good deal. Get the hotel confirmation # from the OTA and print the hotel confirmation page from Hilton.com.
Documentation is very important in this part of the world.

Room Tip: Avoid mentioning young childrewhile booking rooms

The tower 3, 4 & 5 are very near to the Haram, and the restaurant at the hotel is very nice. From 13th floor you can see the kaba directly, the suit rooms are spacious and silent atmosphere. All shoping centeres ar e nearby, lobbies are excellant.
