I booked this hotel last minute with my family and it was the second of two we chose for our time in Makkah as everything else had sold out.
A possible problem for anyone who is not very fit, elderly or with young children is that there is a short but very steep uphill road to take in order to get to the hotel. However, this is just off of the main road of the Haram, the closest gate being the main King Abdul Aziz Gate.
The room we were shown to was on the 8th floor, it was a very large quadruple room, so even though there were 4 single beds, there was still enough room for armchairs and side tables. The décor was a little dated and not very well finished but was clean. There was also a small kitchenette type area with a sink, a kettle and cupboards. Tea bags, disposable cups and sugar were provided too which was a nice touch. The fridge however, didn't work.
The linen was clean (a plus considering we had just come from a hotel nearby that did not have clean linen!). The beds were a little hard but we slept fine. The duvets were new looking but didn't have any covers which seemed intentional.
The bathroom looked pretty up to date in décor but there was no shower curtain. As a result the water went everywhere. This wouldn't have been a huge problem if the water drained properly but it didn't. The drain in the middle of the floor was at a different level to the rest of the floor and so instead of the water slowly draining away, it would just turn into a giant puddle. Luckily we had our own slippers. We also then realised why we had a floor wiper standing in the corner of the room. We literally had to wipe the floor every time any of us used the bathroom. Not only was this annoying but also worrying as it was dangerous if one slipped.
The wi-fi was a bit temperamental and only worked in certain areas of the lobby.
I was also told that we paid over the normal rate per night because we had booked online. We had booked through booking.com and online it seemed like a very good rate but I guess you take what you can when you are planning everything last minute.
Overall it's not a bad place but would be good if management could take note of this review and sort the few things that I have pointed out above. Small changes could make a huge difference to the guests' experience and comfort.
