Good thing that Trip Advisor has started putting reviews about Dar Al-eman hotel. During June we stayed there. I was so angry I wrote a horrible review detailing so many things. But at that time this hotel was not on the Trip advisor yet. I read the reviews and frankly they are all so true and you just can't write enough about how horrible this place is. I'll never stay there again; I'd rather stay in a one star hotel.

Room Tip: If you have to stay there, just make sure that your room is without a "concrete" view.

I booked two days at this hotel during Sep. 2011. The hotel is very near the Harm. The services are not the services of 5-star hotel. When I checked in, although I had a confirmed reservation, the reception did not find any reservation with my name. They were trying to do their best efforts. At last, after 3 hours waiting without any compliment drink, they found my reservation. But, this was not the end of the story. They asked me to wait until preparing and cleaning the room?!!! After waiting another 2 hours, they gave me the key. But, I found some staffs still cleaning the room!!! I was very tired after Omera and I wanted to sleep. So, after 5 hours, I was alone in the room.
Moreover, there was no discipline during breakfast. No staff organized the guests to be seated. After 40 Mins waiting inside the restaurant, the restaurant staff found a table for me. While I was preparing my breakfast, I found a lady with medium age was seating at my table and she refused to moved. She claimed that there were no alterative tables and the restaurant was very crowded with standing up guests!!! Restaurant staffs would not do anything, and asked me to wait again!!!
It has to be mentioned that most of the food are sometimes cold and the beverages are cheap (Rani).
I think that the hotel needs a well firm manager and the staffs need extra training.
Otherwise the hotel is Ok.

Room Tip: Try to have harm view at higher floor

My experience to maakah to the holly city was amazing and praise be to Allah having the hotel close by was good. I travelled with my parents ( my dad not able to walk far & elderly ) but having the hotel in front of the holly mosque was easier for him.

with all ups there are down, there is one down, which is the staff, not very helpful, perhaps due to the fact im not an arab! but i guess it is with most middel east countries.

overall great hotel , poor staff personality, trust me you will feel it if your an asian - dosent matter if you was british.
