“Good comfortable Experience, but slightly Hit or Miss”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

First of all, the location of this hotel (and all hotels in the Abraj complex) is second to none, situated just a minute walk to the holy mosque. Due to the structure of the hotel, Rotana provides a hit or miss experience, which means your experience positive or negative will really depend on your luck and expectations.

We booked a room with the "Kabah" view, reception staff were efficient and friendly. First we were taken to a room with v poor view, after complaint we were shifted to another room with full panoramic view (attached pictures) which was amazing, however the furnitures were v old, rusty and the room extremely dusty and dirty. Another complaint and we were shifted and upgraded to a suite on a high floor thanks to the excellent customer service who did their best, the view and the room this time were perfect and i was satisfied. The suite is quiet spacious, with live-streaming prayer, which means you can pray along with the Imaam in your room facing the kabaah at your window! I am attaching pictures to this review to help people with the selection of their rooms and the type of views available in Rotana. From my experience the rooms on the HIGHER floors are the good ones, with new furnitures etc, the lower floor rooms are the older run down ones. Also keep in mind that a large number of rooms are privately-owned which you can't access (the rooms with the best views are privately owned)

Breakfast had excellent selection, it's the same everyday but Rotana made sure there was food available for all cultures. There is also a lunch and dinner buffet which is also excellent. In Room Dining quality was average, i would skip it.

The elevators are spacious which lessen wait times, never had to wait long. The hotel is situated above a massive mall which makes shopping experience a breeze and access to food court easy (although i didn't like the food quality at the mall food courts)

Overall, i like this hotel, it provides a comfortable stay and i will most likely return. Although the experience can be hit or miss, which means you may end up with a bad room, or not getting a view you paid for. The hotel's customer service does it's best to resolve issues and i truly appreciate the guest relations department, however if the hotel is full you may be forced to accept what you have if you aren't lucky. My recommendation for this hotel is to renovate and update every single room in the hotel equally, and be more clear about each room's view, such as labeling them as "full" or "partial" kabah view, etc.

Room Tip: take a high floor, make sure its one of the new rooms not the old ones. Book early to get good rates...

This is my Third stay in the hotel and definetly i will go back to stay on my next Omra ISA , the Hotel Rooms have been Refurbished to a high standard also the location is very near to the Holy Mosque.
the Breakfast is Excellent with a view over Haram, but most of all is the Excellent Customer Services the Hotel provides especially from the Front Desk (Mr Ahmed Al Hasawi) and his team, also the House Keeping staff, me and my family have enjoyed our stay very much and we lookforward to go again.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view over Haram is the best

I always stay with Marwa Rotana during my visits to Mekkah for the past many years and I thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and services that they provide me during my stay. The hotel is located very near to the Holy Mosque and this makes it the ideal place for my visit to the place.

Well I'll try to make a review a bit elaborate so it might help someone.

First thing, when I read reviews about this hotel, I was hesitant to book here as we were travelling with young kids and don't want to take any risk. We stayed there twice once from 19th Feb till 23rd Feb and then again from 27th Feb till 1st March and find it fabulous.

It is very close to Haram, plenty of elevators, take you max 2-3 min from your room to join prayer in Harram. Hotel is easy to find if you are coming from Jeddah airport ,just tell driver Abrajul-Beet and he can find it. Entrance is on Al-Ajyad street (entrance through tunnel) and not on Ajyad Road.

Breakfast was good and staff was attentive except from one day when I think so, they were either understaffed or overworked or was just in holiday mode. This hotel is very practical with young kids, We requested baby cot and they were prompt in reply. Hotel sits inside a shopping mall and food court is on 3rd level, where plenty of stuff to choose from.

Taxis are on level -2(same area where you arrive) but to get a taxi from there is almost impossible. First you've to tell some security there and he put taxi number on some list and tell guards, who will let him to come in. In other words, Get cab booked from hotel concierge. It is just a bit on expensive side but manageable, taxi cost us SAR 300 for Jeddah airport.

Check in was prompt (our first check in was 2 am in morning but it went smooth). Only tip, if you've more bookings like us, always pay in full, don't leave any money on account that it'll be adjusted in next booking. Their system is unable to restore full info. I've to spend good amount of time at my 2nd check in. Mr. Ibrahim was nice to resolve it but on check out, same issue surfaced again. Thanks to courtesy of Mr. Naif that it was settled.

Only thing that I felt lacking a bit in hotel is attitude of people who manage concierge desk. They just tend to ignore you even you standing in front of them and leave desk, while they are not doing anything. I felt it a bit childish and unprofessional of course. Well if someone is standing in front of you, that person is there for some reason. Anyways, the Burmese guy who booked cab for us (Mr. Hsaan I believe) was great.

Now where I felt service lacking. Well there is always some room for improvement, there is no holding service available at this hotel. Like in our case, we were going to Madinah and coming back to same Hotel after 4 days, we’ve to carry all our stuff. Introducing holding service will be a great idea and many people in our situation will find it great. Moreover, there is no clock in room, so you are in timeless zone. Lastly, there was no Quran in room that you can read.

Get Room with Kabba View, it might cost a bit but you won’t regret it.

Will I come to this hotel again. Well I'm already planning my next Umrah there again IA, if you are travelling with young kids, I'll definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Get Room with Kabba View

The hotel is located in one of the Bait Al Abraaj Towers, just three minutes walk away from the Holy Mosque. The hotel is mostly full so don't expect any upgrade or early check in. I arrived a bit earlier and was not allowed to check in early as the hotel rooms were fully occupied. The front office staff lacks courtesy and need to understand the meaning of Hospitality and Courtesy. Buffet Breakfast was good with a large variety of middle eastern dishes but I would suggest addition of more variety.
Mr. Bilal Ahmed , Asst Dir. Food & Bev, was the only person who knew how to handle guests and provided every possible help when needed.
