“Very convenient location”
Reviewed December 8, 2012

The Movenpick hotel is located in the clock tower just 100 meters opposite King Abdulaziz Gate which is extremely convenient for frequent visits to the Holy Mosque.
The reception of the hotel is at the 11th floor. 6 huge elevators are reserved for the hotel guests. The reception is at all time properly manned and the staff is very helpful - especially Yasser- who was very accommodating at all times.
The hotel offers about 1400 rooms,
From my room I could partially see the Haram. The room is clean, modern and comfortable. The room is also equipped with a small cooking range and a mini fridge, convenient for long stays...
The bathroom is small but offers all the needed comfort.
The breakfast is rich and the staff is also very helpful.
The hotel has 3 or 4 restaurants
Unfortunately, there is no wifi in the rooms .... Only at the reception free wifi is available
The concierge team can help you getting Zamzam water properly packed and easy to transport.
There is also a car rental office available at the hotel where you can book your transfer to Madina or Jedda. Also public taxi are available few meters away from the tower.
Great hotel, with good facilities in the best location in Makkah!

The star rating and brand name are not what you will get in this hotel. To start, the reception and check-in was not welcoming and unprofessional. The receptionist, Ali, surprised me that my confirmed reservation was cancelled and gave me a room different to my request. We eventually got a partial view room which is another way of saying BAD VIEW, you can only see the external courts of Alharam. The room is not sound proofed, I could loudly hear my neighbors and the noise from the corridor! Further more, the staff are not professional, house keeping woke me up from sleep even though I hanged the dont disturb sign on the door! And to make it worse, the bed was uncomfortable at all. I simply dont recommend this place especially with the available alternatives next to it!

Room Tip: The partial view rooms' view is not worth the extra money غرف الإطلالة الجزئية لا تستحق المبلغ...

I stayed in this hotel on the very peak season, from Oct 30 till Nov 4 on my Hajj pilgrimage. The location is very convenient, in front of King Abdul Aziz gate. It has a 4 storey Mall with one in the Basement. It is quite a new building compared with Hilton and Intercontinental which looks so obsolete. With the "Big Ben" clock tower that can be seen almost from everywhere, it is a prestigious hotel. The food is abundance, especially the dessert, quite Swiss. My room is quite big at 11th floor, and the amenities is quite good. The staff are helpful and nice.

Room Tip: Ask the Reception if you like to see the mosque from your room.

Easily accessible to Zam Zam tower shopping mall and food court. Best for family stay. Reception staffs are a bit slow but know better English than other hotel in Mecca. One problem we face in bathroom water is overflown as floor tiles are not properly placed. Bathroom is medium sized.

it was a very nice stay with my family for doing el "Omra" ... the "Azan" sound at the room was a real nice idea
the view to el Haram is awesome , every thing was nice and also the open buffet for breakfast was great
the nearness from el Haram is the best advantage and also the mall is nice so you can find anything you want without going to the downtown

Stayed at the Movenpick Hotel during the 2012 Haj season. Hotel is well located in front of the King Abdul Aziz gate, the main entrance to the Grand Haram Mosque. The rooms are large, clean with all the bathrooms amenities well maintained. The beds were extremely comfortable. The meals are served in the various restaurants and ours were served in the Al Nassim. Quality of food was good and all the meals were served buffet style, so one had a wide range of choices. Service level is good and staff are helpful. Hotel is situated in a shopping mall. The only drawback is that it has no gym facilities. Would be good if the hotel could provide it.

location is excellent, "in-house" prayer hall has direct view and sound with Haram so we were able to pray with Imam with no hassle. Breakfast was excellent and truly five stars.
If you are looking for "true" haram-view this is NOT your best choice since you could only get a glimpse of the Corner of Haram. Figuring out elevator system is a hassle for most hotels in the Waqf complex

Room Tip: request haram view and high level room.
