“Fantastic view, awful breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013

We stayed in the new chalets which have a great view from the balcony. The rooms are spacious and the bathromms are fine. This site has a great potential, but somewhat not used. The shock was the breakfast! I never had such a bad breakfast in Jordan! I wonder what they are saving? The breakfast is important and I am sure lots of people stay away the next time. If I knew the breakfast would be better, I would fully recommend the place, but stay in the chalets.

We arrived after dark and really struggled to find this hotel, with Hotels.com shown it as being located in Jerash, however it was actually 7km out located on a remote hillside. After we found the hotel (guided by a really helpful local) we were welcomed by the friendly hotel staff. Our room was in the recently built apartments, these are really spacious rooms with great views. The hotel is currently investing and if the new apartments are anything to go buy this will be a fantastic complex.

Thank you very much for your kind review, Rhona H. We are very glad you enjoyed your stay in our new Garden Rooms. We are happy with the overwhelmingly positive response we are getting from these new rooms and will continue to make improvements to the property in order to please our guests. We are also working with the local government to get permission to license additional signs that will make it easier for our guests to find the hotel, especially at night. Thanks again for staying with us and for sharing your feedback. We hope to see you back at the Olive Branch in the near future.

Hello,
We arrived, large group, for one night to the Olive Hotel, the rooms were very comfortable and clean, a hot shower, dinner was good, the location is great-on the mountain, surronded by hills with olives, good air and the staff was very friendly.
I will definately come back to this hotel, next time I'll be around.

The management here have obviously taken previous criticism seriously, there are now easy to read signs directing you to the hotel from the centre of Jerash, I had sat-nav with the co-ordinates of the hotel saved but would have found it easily anyway.

It really doesn't look like much as you arrive, the pool covered in plastic tarp and the main building obviously being renovated, but the welcome is typically Jordanian warm and nothing is too much trouble.

We arrived at around 6.45pm and were allocated 2 of the new garden rooms, these both had three beds in, and are obviously newly constructed, with a nice little balcony area at the rear and a good size bathroom with a shower over a tub.
The rooms also have a complete satellite TV system with 100+ channels, refreshing compared to the normal 5 or 6 in a hotel.

We were told on checkin that the hot water needs to be run for 5 minutes plus to allow it to arrive from the main building and this was the case.... unfortunately one of the rooms seemed to run out of hot water fairly quickly, though the other was fine.

As we'd been driving all day we decided to eat in the restaraunt at the hotel, the food was fine with fresh salad and everything on the menu available... that said, the menu is a little limited for western tastes though what we did have was excellent quality.

The beds were comfortable and the wall mounted heaters worked fine for keeping the late winter chill away, there are mozzie screens on the windows (not that we saw any insects anyway) and the area is so quiet that we all had our best nights' sleep in Jordan here.

Breakfast the following morning was again middle eastern style (though scrambled eggs are availalble and very good) and again fresh and served with a smile.

I would recommend this hotel without any issues and would stay here again no problems... the owners are clearly following an on-going plan of improvement and when they've finished this really will be a top destination.

Room Tip: The new garden rooms have great views and are lovely but there's no wifi in them, only in recept...

We enjoyed this hotel. The grounds are beautiful, peaceful location that is close to the ruins at Jerash. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was very clean, but a little chilly at night, even with the heat on. We had a wonderful balcony and view. We enjoyed the breakfast, plenty of food, well prepared. Overall, great value for the money.

The breakfast starts very late around 8:00 - 8:30 am and serves mostly Arabic dishes. Lste breakfast didnot help us with an early start for the dsy we wanted for Ajloun and Jerash. But staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are pretty old and dusty but this is the best place the area has to offer. Reception can arrange taxis for travelling, though bit expensive don't have much options. Though this is not a star class hotel as per my opinion I don't mind recommending it for easy access to Aloud and Jerash. The hotel is going through some renovation and hope it will get better. Free WiFi in reception is available and its good enough.Pool is available but did not find it very inviting. My wife and I visited in end of Sept which I think bit too early as it was still bit too hot to freely roam around.

We sincerely appreciate your stay at the Olive Branch and thank you for your feedback. We are sorry about your breakfast experience and are trying to find out exactly what happened during your stay. Our breakfast service has always begun at 7:30 a.m. at the latest. Occasionally we will have a large group staying at the hotel whose breakfast buffet will begin later per their package. Our a-la-carte breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. with Continental as well as Arabic dishes available on the menu. We are addressing the issues with dust in the rooms with our Housekeeping department and are happy to announce that we have completed our expansion, which will certainly help reduce the dust. We have added 24 new Garden Rooms and a conference facility to our property. We plan on utilizing these new facilities when we begin our room renovation project in the main building. Once again, thank you for sharing your experience. We hope you had an enjoyable visit to Jordan.

Being one of only two hotels in Jerash there isnt a lot of choice. However it is good value for a 2 star hotel. When we arrived the bed lights and TV were not working, however the hotel staff attended to then quickly. Food is OK, room a bit dusty, but spacious. Reception staff very helpful. Getting from town to the hotel is not so easy. We paid a taxi driver 5JD and followed him in our car. Hotel needs to put up some signs in town especially around the visitor center. Great view from the rooms.
