This is your first trip to Amman, you are in Jabal Al Hussein area, you don't speek Arabic and you don't want to eat in a tourist joint? We went to Gaith Restaurant, looked at the attractively presented selection behind glass, and pointed to our server what he should bring to our table. The food came fast, everything was freshly made and delicious. An example of a good balanced dinner: a plate of chicken shawarma, a side dish of tabouleh, another side dish of elaborate mixed local salad, and bottled water; all for only 5 JOD (5 €). (There are freshly squeezed juices and milk shakes, but no alcohol and no deserts) . Best of all, in this very busy yet unhurried place, you can observe at leasure the latest way fashinable young girls tie their headscarves, or how matrons and fathers interact with their large families, and what and how the local people eat... A most enjoyable experience.
