Five of us split the 20JD cost of a guide who was able to give us the best introduction to Jordan, not just the Citadel. It would be easy to miss so many finer details and bits of histroy without someone who knows the site well. Learning as we did about Jordan during our first day visit, really enhanced our stay in this lovely country.

Interesting. Not a very long tour. Great info boards everywhere you don't need a guide to really any of the historical sites

Just another pile of ruins really but well ordered and with reasonably good signage of the different parts of the site. As you enter, make sure you keep right to follow the best route.
There are guides but asking for 25JD for an hour's tour is cheeky in the extreme. Ignore them and follow the right hand road on entering.
Pleasant toilets as well.

Was Hercules ever here? Who knows... but these old ruins are a strong pull to see Amman from a height. There's a lack of information panels but a guide can be paid for if you want. Probably best done as late in the day as possible to see the sun sinking over a lovely city.

Besides being awesome ruins to take a look at, they offer amazing views over the city of Amman. You can pick up a guide at the gate or just peruse on your own. Parking can be a bit tight and it gets very hot up there, so plan accordingly.
