“Doesn't live up to the Kempinski Brand”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

Kempinski hotels invoke a sense of luxury and high service, however the Kempinski in Amman fails to come close to this standard. The rooms are small and in need up some updating. Also if staying over the weekend beware, the night club plays music so loud I thought the walls were swaying! Really though, the music is so loud that its impossible to get a restful sleep. The breakfast is ok, if you get there early, if you come after 9am most everything is gone and the staff don't bother to replace it. I tried out the hotel sports bar but they couldn't even get the dish I ordered right and although I ordered a mixed mezza plate they only put 2 items. While most of the staff is friendly enough the front desk needs a service refresher course. There is a big difference between a 4 star and 5 star hotel. 5 star hotels go out of the way to help and provide the services you need. This hotel is barely the 4 star level.

Room Tip: High up and away from the night club!

The rooms were clean and nice size. We had a view of the city. The restaurant had a good breakfast buffet and dinner buffet. I'm vegetarian and I had plenty of choices. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: City view was quiet and a nice view,

Very bad experience on checking in. The clerk was half way through checking me in when he started checking someone else in instead! [--]?

He then told me the swimming pool closes at 5.30pm. So how precisely is a businessmen in Amman on business supposed to use the pool? Answer, he isn't. I only booked this hotel so I could get some exercise in the pool after a day's work. Won't make that mistake again.

Got to room and it was either half made up or someone else has had a bit of lie down before me.

This is a very lavish and nice hotel. One of the nicest I've seen. Definitely on par with some of nicer hotels and all the amenities you would expect to find there. Has fancy see thru glass elevators and very lavish rooms with digital switches to indicate you want room service for that day or do not disturb. The bathrooms are also very nice. Although I don't understand why the bathtubs don't have shower curtains and instead just a half glass door. Nonetheless, this is a very luxurious hotel that most people will find very satisfying in the great city of Amman.

We stayed for 3 nights during a tour of Jordan at the end of 2012. We arrived after a long day of travel in the early hours of the morning and were swiftly checked in.

The Room was very clean and of a good size, a little dated and probably 4 star rather than 5 star.
All the staff were very helpful, and the concierge will arrange drivers for taking you into Amman and even to act as a guide to go further a field if need be, on one of the days the pool area was closed and he happily arrange for a driver to take us to the Marriott to use their facilities.

The hotel is in an excellent position to get out and explore the city, and the pool was great to relax and cool down in after. The food in the restaurants was very good but we must especially recommend the Italian, the only thing that was lacking was atmosphere due to the drop in tourism in the area. They sports bar was the busier of all the bars.

There are also a large number of local cafes and restaurants to enjoy on the hotels doorstep and i have to stress i don't think i have ever felt safer in a country than i did in Jordan.

Had a great stay and would happily return.
