Whenever in Amman for a couple of days I try going to Zorbas at least once. A traditional restaurant, no hi-tech or some hyper styling: simplewooden tables & chairs. But the essence, atmosphere, & food are fantastic. The place is hidden in the old downtonw of Amman, having kind of a shop outlet facing directly the street; there the fresh fish is exposed for sale and for visitors to choose what they would like to have. The restaurant itself is on several levels, the best one top of the building, an open air covered terrace (although there is not much rain in Amman, but never mind), and it is a beloved place of the locals. Kin of insider tip, difficult to find alone.
The fish is fresh and freshly prepared, wiht obligatory entrees of all delicious kinds typical for local cuisine. Absolutely great food. SHould you go there be sure not to ead a day in advance, as to enjoy the most of Zorbas :-).
The staff is local but everyone speaks english and usually you are greeted an seated by the owner, who supervises also your order and your serving waitors.
As for me, a must go.
Should you still have some capacity left after Zorbas, just two minutes walk away is the famous Habiba Sweets bar....
