This place is amazing. There are always interesting exhibitions and space itself is wonderful- buildings, garden, little fountains around which tables are locate for cafe. It is very nice to have a coffee in a shade of trees and enjoy the view over Amman.

This gallery presents the collection of a notable Jordanian banker who once lived at the site. The buildings are truly impressive and the gardens likewise. The collections are a curious mix of photography, some paintings and a few sculptures, spread over three buildings. Be prepared to open doors to see what is on display, as the doors are typically kept shut, and the shy will miss most of what is on display. There is also an extensive history (photographic and written) of the benefactor, with some great photos of the family

I loved my visit to Darat al Funun. There was an interesting exhibition on when I visited so I was able to go from building to building, exploring the different houses set on different levels of a hill, that make up the gallery, and seeing a wide range of contemporary art at the same time. It was relaxing and peaceful visit. So, if you are heading to Amman and interested in art, do check out what is on and make some time to go.

Lovely place to sit, have lemon juice with fresh mint or tea and relax. The view over Amman is amazing from the beautiful garden is a must-see. Although you're still in the middle of Amman, Darat al Funun is a truly peaceful, quiet and relaxing place. One can only hear birds, cats and the water coming from the fountain.
The people there (both the artists and the visitors) are lovely and really tourist-friendly. My best Amman experience so far!!

Although there was not that much art to see, we had great time in Darat al Funun. We enjoyed the peaceful authentic atmosphere while sitting in the beautiful garden with view over Amman downtown and drinking black tea with mint.
Plus is the library in the main building with interesting art books.
