“Island of peace”
Reviewed November 16, 2013

Lovely place to sit, have lemon juice with fresh mint or tea and relax. The view over Amman is amazing from the beautiful garden is a must-see. Although you're still in the middle of Amman, Darat al Funun is a truly peaceful, quiet and relaxing place. One can only hear birds, cats and the water coming from the fountain.
The people there (both the artists and the visitors) are lovely and really tourist-friendly. My best Amman experience so far!!

“Lovely escape from the city”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

Although there was not that much art to see, we had great time in Darat al Funun. We enjoyed the peaceful authentic atmosphere while sitting in the beautiful garden with view over Amman downtown and drinking black tea with mint.
Plus is the library in the main building with interesting art books.

“A wondeful terraced gallery / library of modern art.”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

Climb the hills, negotiate the hugely long flights of steps and you will get to the house of art. Darat al-Funun is 'organised' of several terraces that are in themselves lovely - and at ground level it has wonderful Byzantine church as a bonus. The collection changes regularly.- Ghost Buildings when we were there, and much more. And you can have tea (or better yet fresh lemon juice with mint) in the gardens, listening to the water and watching the gliding cats. Don't miss it. Nothing to dislike - unless you hate hills & steps.

“A place for art lovers and more”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

This is an old Arabian house that was renovated and turned into an art museum. As old Arabian houses, this house has a fountain in the yard and around it you can sit and enjoy something to drink.
There is no entrance fees, the place closes on Fridays.

I highly recommend this place for a break even if you are not so much into art.

“Nice location, not much art”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

The location is lovely and peaceful, but don't expect a lot of art. There was hardly anything on display when we were there - a kind of retrospective of an Egyptian video artist with about two works on show - and thus there wasn't an awful lot to see. But tea in the garden was quite nice.
