“Better than the museum on the citadel”

Jordanian Museum of Popular Tradition

This museum, which is right off the Roman Theatre, is small but satisfying. It has a great range of ethnographic materials-- outfits and jewelry from various tribes in the region of Jordan, some still thriving and some of the past. The explanations on the labels are good, and you can get even more information if you speak some Arabic and talk to the friendly museum guard. The objects here are a lot more charismatic than the ones in the National Archaeological Museum on the citadel, and they're organized much better. Worth a visit, especially since it's a two-fer with the theatre!

This museum, located on the side of the Roman Theatre complex, is small but interesting to look through. Though the mannequins are a bit eerie, the costumes they are adorned in are lovely. They show the intricate stitch-work and the vibrant colors common to the traditional attire worn throughout Jordan. In adjacent rooms are a number of other cultural items, such as jewelry and pottery used by these various tribes. Lastly, down a dark and looming hallway, a number of mosaic pieces are on display. This space likely won’t take you more than a dozen minutes to walk through, but it is interesting nonetheless.

This tiny museum attached to the roman theater is well worth the visit! This place offers somewhere to cool off from the theater and has so many great things to look at! There is furniture, mosaics, jewelry, traditional clothing, and more! This museum is sure to please and the staff is willing to answer any and all questions.

Your entrance ticket to the Roman Theatre includes entry to this museum. Don't miss it! Great displays of traditional ethnic clothing and jewelry, coffee implements, and an outstanding display of Jerash and Madaba mosaics. Friendly staff who'll happily answer all of your questions.

Well i say its free. You did have to pay to get in the Roman theatre.
But you would have to pay to do that anyway.
This place is small and not that badly laid out.
Some of the costumes are very good (why is there no male ones)
The mosaics all from other places are also very nice.
You can spend half hour here (gets you out of the heat of the day)
