My husband and I checked into the Le Royal for our anniversary in May 2005. The room was okay but I was put off by what looked to be a blood stain on the bed spread. We then walked around the hotel. The pool that we had planned to use was still closed for the season and the corridor leading to it was filthy and looked like it had not been cleaned in months. We then checked out the spa and I was put off again by the fact that there were no attendants in sight and there was dirty tissue laying next to the whirlpool. We went back to our room and decided we would be happier staying at home - so we checked out within the hour we checked in. We had some difficulty since they wanted to charge us. The manager eventually agreed not to charge. We were disappointed that we would be missing the breakfast in the morning since we heard it is the best in town. We ended up going to the 4-Season's buffett in the morning instead. By the way, the 4-Season's is the best hotel in Amman - the service and the spa is impeccable. The one time we went to the Chester's Cigar Bar at the Royal for dessert - the service was HORRENDOUS! We had to wait over an hour for the waiter to bring our cake! They could have baked it in that time. Some people we know really like the hotel but the hotel has got to step up in my opinion.

I stayed at the Le Royal Amman in late April. From what I've heard about the hotel and from the pictures on its site, the hotel seemed like a great place. When we reached Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, we took the hotel car to the hotel, which was 45 minutes away. The ride went smoothly and was comfortable, but the problems started when I arrived at the hotel. The exterior is impressive, since the hotel is the tallest structure in the city. The lobby, however, is very standard; there was nothing special about it. Check-in took five minutes, and I was then escorted to the elevators to my room. All of the guest floors are accessible by room keys as a security measure; very helpful in terms of exclusivity. The corridors were clean and perfumed, but rather dimly lit. The room, which was OK in size (about 35 square meters), had nothing 'Royal' about it. The beds were fine and the linens were clean, but the pillows were thin. The brochure said that all bathrooms have a bathtub and a separate shower; the bathroom only had a bathtub. Back to the room, the work desk and tables were horrifically scratched; gouged even, with large, deep lines in the wood. The TV did not always work, the Internet connection was slow, and the games were inaccessible most of the time and had slow controls (all available through the TV). Breakfast, served in the Patio restaurant in the hotel's atrium, is light-filled and open (so it had a pleasant atmosphere), but the buffet is small and was also nothing special. The health club, which is spread over two floors, is obviously the hotel's highlight, but had its share of problems as well. The reception desk was not always staffed, towels were unavailable at times, and the lockers in the locker rooms were EXTREMELY difficult to use; my locker took at least eight minutes to open; keys and locks are of poor quality. Otherwise, the swimming pools (two indoor and one outdoor) are fine, and the gym could be bigger. The hotel brags about its mall, but it is extremely disappointing. Only five out of thrity-five shops are open, all selling severely overpriced souvenirs. The cinema is always empty, and the mall has no atmosphere. The major downside to our stay was the service offered in the hotel; even though service is apparently a major pillar in a hotel of this calibre, it was very, very poor, turtle-speed slow, and sometimes downright rude. One of the receptionists kept sighing whenever I asked him questions and interrupted me whenever he had the chance. I requested an extra pillow to be sent to my room; it took over an hour before it arrived, and the casing was dirty. The health club team is slow to respond to guests' problems, and the service is generally very cold and unfriendly; almost as if the staff view guests as a burden rather than a priority. Unfortunately, I do not plan to return to this hotel for the above reasons; Amman has much better offerings with more facilities and SUBSTANTIALLY better service at lower prices, such as the Four Seasons and Kempinski. It does not even deserve the honor and prestige of being a 'Leading Hotel of the World.'

Service high class but cold and not friendly (restaurant and bars).
The restaurants are located in strange atmosphere (except the chester bar)... it looks like they forget them at the beginning of the hotel erection.
In fact there is no life in the hotel and no mind.
The rooms are perfect and the service is very good (cleaness and laundry).
I spent there 1 month for business and after I remove to another hotel more friendly (grand hyatt and inter continental... but lower class).

A great location combining old Amman with the new, many fantasic restaurant, i personally favored the lounge "chesters" from which you have a great view of the city. the food is good, service is above average though not excellent. there's a movie theater inside the hotel. rooms are neat and warm. Must say i wouldn't mind staying at the Le Royal again, had no down points.
