“Excellent customer service and sumptuous breakfast buffet.”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

We stay in this hotel twice on May, the rooms are clean, comfortable and with good view of the city, it has a nice pool and spa. We were amazed with the quality and variety of the breakfast buffet; the Manager circulated a Satisfaction Survey after our first breakfast. It was a "Sumptuous" meal to satisfied the most exquisite palatal. We will recommend and comeback to this hotel any time. They also have high security and 4 different Restaurants. We liked the Indian cuisine very much.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better view of the city.

We stayed one night in the IC which is a nicely located hotel in Amman, with well-appointed rooms and good service. The staff is helpful, the amenities good and food options (especially breakfast) varied.
It is near the Embassies area (safe) and only a 10 mts walk from Rainbow street with a variety of cafes, restaurants and shops. We spent one evening in ‘Cantaloupe’ in Rainbow street – a lil pricey but nice drinks with spectacular views of Amman. Advance bookings required.
The hotel is a short drive to the citadel (lovely!) / Roman theater and downtown area. For local flavor try the traditional ‘Mansaf’ at Al Quds followed by sweet ‘Qnafa’ at Habiba, both in Downtown. The popular Reem’s shawarma is 5 mts walk from the hotel and open till late night.

Smoking is pervasive in Jordan including indoors, which can be annoying for a non smoker, if you are. Taxes are extra on all menu prices. But people are friendly, the streets lively and the weather wonderful. Overall we had a great time and quite happy to have chosen the Intercontinental.
Recommended.

On the whole the service was good and the rooms were fine. The spa facilities are good and the pool is adequate.

However... Wifi costs £16 per day or 17 Jordanian Dinah per day. This is the only major hotel that we came across in Jordan to charge for wifi and there was not even any free wifi in the lobby. In this day and age, and particularly in a confusing place like Amman, it's pretty important to have wifi and this charge was outrageous.

The restaurants were Indian, Mexican and Lebanese. Unfortunately we only realised there was a Lebanese one at the end of our stay (4 nights). The Mexican one is VERY expensive for what you get. 17 JD for a simple burrito once 26% tax and service charge is factored in! The Indian was average at best and also similarly expensive.

I took exception to the fact that the drinks in the hotel were more expensive than all the other hotels we visited in Jordan including more exclusive ones, like the Kempinski and Le Royal.

Of course all the cars they book are twice the price of flagging down a yellow cab outside, so don't fall for that. Oh and breakfast is 22 JD each. Nice.. Nearly £50 for a continental breakfast that should be included (like all the other hotels we stayed in).

The hotel was nice enough and facilities fine, but if you are gong to stay here I suggest you eat elsewhere (Fakhreldine and Levant are both very nice restaurants within walking distance) and be prepared to pay through the nose for all drinks and of course the wifi.

Room Tip: Don't Let them fob you off with a city view that faces the rear!

We stayed at the Intercon at the end of a fantastic road trip to Jordan which covered Wadi Rum, Petra and the Dead Sea, so this was a kind of city break at the end of a road!
The hotel was easy to find by car and very well situated. The Hotel was celebrating their 50th year and the pictures on display of the hotel through the years were fascinating.
On arrival, we decided to upgrade to Club Lounge access, which was a great deal (for us, clearly it won't suit everyone) but the F&B available at various times of the day were great and the lounge allows a great view of the city. We didn't try the restaurants as we grazed in the Club Lounge and/or ate out. Rooms were great (oh how I wish a central London Hotel had so much space), toiletries were Dead Sea Mineral stuff and very good and the beds oh so comfortable. The Pool was OK, and the Spa facilities very good, with particularly helpful and friendly staff.
One very annoying thing though - 2JD to park the car - really!

Room Tip: Think about Club Lounge access, it's not cheap, but it's not expensive either and internet q...

As this was my first time in Jordan, I was unsure what to expect after living in Abu Dhabi for a few years. I can only say that Jordan is nothing like the UAE! This hotel put the differences into perspective. Firstly everyone is really helpful! Nothing is too much. The room was spotless, the facilities are all fantastic and the gym is as good as any professional gym in the UK. The food was great and the Internet was the fastest I've seen in a hotel for years. This place is a credit to the intercontinental brand! Thanks!

I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!

Room Tip: Try and get a pool side room for the city view

The hotel is nice, although the rooms and the spa should be renovated. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The Burj al Hamam restaurant is superb, as well as the indian restaurant. The location is not very good. When staying there, make sure that you ask for a renovated room.
