We found organic herb teas and organic zataar which were made by the local organization for Women and Childrens.
Also please try watermelon juice there. It is delicious !!!

It is a nice place to stroll and see some interesting things. Some booths are nicer than others. Some things seem very expensive.

I love Jara and since I moved away i actually miss it. It usually runs summer time every Friday.

Plenty of stalls , lots of creative stuff like accessories, paintings, wall decorations, hand made soap , candles, books about Jordan by local authors and i think there was even a honey stall once.

I love it mostly because it brings Amman people together. It is nice to go there have a cold drink and just enjoy an hour or two.

Somedays you can even buy tickets to see local artists who are usually excellent. I've seen Yanal Malkosh, Emad Alaadin and Autostrad. Lovely and lively music.

Jara's situated in Jebal Amman which has loads of cafes, pubs and restaurants , so you could go out after :)

We visited Souk Jara twice as we were staying on Rainbow Street. Nice atmosphere, interesting products, smaller than I expected.
I personally found it surprising that in amongst the clearly high quality local handicrafts were really naff plastic beads and other rubbish, probably made in China. It's a pity the organisers didn't manage to stick with the initial plan to make the market a showcase for Jordanian handicrafts as it is ideally situated between Jordan River Foundation and Wild Jordan. But generally speaking the stall holders are incredibly friendly, happy for you to just take a look, no pressure to buy.
You certainly don't need an afternoon, an hour stroll is sufficient!
Check the Facebook page for dates and info before going.
