“A Touch of Class for Little $$”
Reviewed November 1, 2009

Unlike the first review, I think the entrance space is quite adequate.

The hotel is mordern and stylish and is centrally located in Amman. The rooms are large and beds are of quality with fine linens.

The rooftop cafe is inexpensive and the food is good while sipping a glass of wine overlooking Amman.

For $90 dollars you cant do better.

Great staff and fast wireless.

Again, I dont have much to say. I end with these words: Location, food, staff, price, service, quality, trendy, just briliant!!

We stayed 4 nights at the Canyon hotel as part of an 8 day organized trip around Jordan. During the trip we ended seeing 3 different rooms, so this review applies to 10% of the rooms of the hotel. The first look at the hotel from the outside shows a modern building, yet the front side is looking over a large parking place (just sand) for the nearby Amman main hospital. Also entrance is quite small, and real reception area is at the -1 level.
In fact the hotel rooms were really looking very trendy and elegant with good beds, colorful chairs, a flatscreen TV, an espresso machine, minibar, safe, modern bathroom with large mirror and a shower (no bath) looking into the bedroom through a large glass wall. Also free WIFI internet is available and connection speed was good.
On the 5th floor there was a very good rooftop bar with helpful and friendly service, and meals between 5 and 10Dinar - from the rooftop you have a nice view over Amman (see pictures). Downstairs at -1 level was the reception area with also the restaurant; tables are nicely placed and general atmosphere is quite cosy. For the first evening we were rather disappointed by the choice at the buffet. Waiters were very friendly and helpful, and explained about dinner in the restaurant: if less than 20 people were expected you get a specific menu (which we had twice, and each time very good) with starter, main course and dessert - in case more people were present a buffet was made (which we also had twice: one rather disappointing one with few choice; the second one was much better with a large variety of dishes - we did complain about the first one). Wines at the restaurant were expensive, and same wines were in fact cheaper at the rooftop bar.
Be careful with your valuables and jewelry as 2 people who forgot something in their room after leaving - although calling the hotel quickly - were not able to get a ring and earrings back... cleaning team to be checked probably.
Overall, we'd recommend the hotel for travellers. It's certainly better value as other so called 4 star hotels we saw in Jordan.
