I only spent a night at Retaj, it was pleasant and the staff are super helpful. The room was clean, however I did notice some ants by the shower that should probably be taken care of. The bed was comfortable and luckily I got a room on the side of the building so I did not hear any of the outside traffic. However, the walls are fairly thin and I could hear the cleaning staff in the other rooms clearly. As for the breakfast, it was disappointing I must say. The pastries were stale and everything else was very bland. I did like the olives though. Other than that, everyone was very friendly, I was happy that they held onto my luggage as I went out after checkout, and would definitely consider coming back to Retaj but probably only for an overnight stay.

I spent a week at the Retaj and found it to be a good value. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and it is close to many places and restaurants. I'd stay there again. The staff remember your name and promptly fill any requests.

Room Tip: Stay on the backside of the hotel. It is the most quiet.

I stayed at the Retaj during a training for the UN. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. When I needed anything, they would accommodate. They even offered to store an empty suitcase for me that I could not take on my flight (for the next time I returned to Jordan).

The rooms are fairly simple, but clean and my bed was comfortable -- although my room was facing the street so there was a bit of traffic noise..

I didn't go to the main restaurant, but the morning breakfast buffet was delicious. A nice choice of Jordanian food as well as European/North American breakfast fare (eggs, meats, nice breads, etc).

The Hotel is fairly centrally located, just near the 5th circle and close to most major shopping. There are also a few small shops next door when you can buy drinks, snacks, etc and a liquor store nearby, which sells good wine at a reasonable price -- good selection of Jordanian wine, as well.

I'll return to the Retaj when next in Jordan.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the street, as it's off a major traffic area and can get loud during...

Excellent service, clean rooms, lovely breakfast and most importantly really kind staff who even opened the restaurant for us 2 am when we arrived from the airport. Internet connection is not great but gets faster after midnight. We highly recommend this hotel.

The position is not excellent but taxis are very cheap in Amman, despite traffic is tremendous.
Rooms on the road side are very noisy and during the night the traffic disturbs a bit.
Staff is kind but not very helpful; I had a problem in my bathroom and they didn' t do anything for 4 days.
Rooms are comfortable enough and clean enough.
Brakfast is poor and so is the buffet restaurant.

This is a typical 3 stars hotel, if you are in a short business trip then it is the place to go, reasonable price, very good location and nice neighborhood next to Sheraton and the Four Season, easy access to and from.
Rooms are clean, but one of the side lamps was out of order and when I left (one week later) it was still out of order. Liquid shower gel dispenser was empty by my last day and it was not filled (for this I did not ask as I was leaving next morning).
Breakfast is good, room service was ok.
If I am in a business trip gain to Jordan I will go to Retaj again, but not for pleasure.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2012

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights during March 2012. As I was in Amman for business reasons it provided a good base to allow me to get around town easily enough as its location on a main road allowed me to get taxis at any time I needed one.

The hotel is only about 3 or 4 years old and so is modern and clean with polite staff, although their grasp of English is somewhat limited. In the entrance foyer there is a selection of comfortable chairs to rest on, the Reception Desk, and a small cafe area serving a large selection of quite good food and drink at reasonable prices. The menu items can all be ordered via room service if you prefer.

My room wasn't particularly large but it did manage to squeeze in a double bed and a desk but that only left a couple of feet spare room to move around. There was a double wardrobe with a good sized safe in it. There is a small shower room and pedestal basin. A flat screen TV is provided but only had 2 English language channels available. No tea/coffee making facilities are provided. An iron and ironing board can be requested but the board I received had a very old and torn cover on it which was a shame as it wasn't in keeping with the standard of the rest of the hotel. A small fridge is provided with a few snacks and drinks but these are not free.

As a base for a few nights in Amman the Retaj is perfectly adequate and you could find far worse for a similar price. It is only a few minutes walk from the Four Seasons and the Sheraton Hotels which allows you to dine at those and have alcoholic drinks if you prefer.

Room Tip: Request a room on the 3rd floor or higher to minimise road traffic noise.
