“Worth returning to Amman!”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

Our taxi driver suggested this restaurant. 2 couples, with no experience in Iraqi cuisine, we chose our menu items with very little understnading of what we ordered, and the food was amazing. Bursting with flavours and beautifully presented. Followed by complimentary desert and fruit tray.
We each ordered an appetizer, and shared accorss the table. The chicken livers were delicate and tasty. The chicken wings were lovely, not like north american wings. The shrimp appetizer was perfectly cooked too. I had the beef buriani, so frarant and tender. The chicken and beef curries were full of flavours and not spicy hot. The lamb chops were tender and cooked to perfection.
This Iraqi restaurant does not serve alcohol, but the strong black tea at the end of the meal, was an excellent ending.
Whenever I am back in Amman, I will make sure to revisit this exciting restaurant

Reviewed November 26, 2012

I tried different Jordanian restaurants and for sure this one is one of the best all of the starters and Kebabs are great and by the end they give you a strong black tea, go there when you are hungry, the amount of food is unbelievable , clean and nice location plus professional staff and delicious foods make an outstanding experience for you.

“Mesopotamia in Amman”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

Unfortunately most people can't visit Iraq and taste it's amazing food that is full of flavor spices and the sense of ancient Mesopotamia , but in Zad El khair you can do that
amazing dishes all are Iraqi beside other oriental dishes , you can taste there the traditional dish of Iraq their fish Masgoof which is I highly recommend , amazing atmosphere with old Iraqi and oriental music and songs , it's a must to visit it

“Worst Fish Ever”
Reviewed November 10, 2011

I have always wanted to try Iraqi Masqoof style fish since i was a little child. My dad visited Iraq and told us a mouth watering story about Masqoof on the banks of Tigris river! needless to say we went to Zad El Khair and except for the show of live fish being killed by a large wood stick, there was nothing worth noting. The restaurant was nearly empty and the food sucked big time! The fish had virtually no spices and was rare with bad stench! The beryani has nothing to do with Indian and was more maglooba than anything. Not worth the $40-45 a person!

“Glad they keep up with excellent food and service.”
Reviewed February 4, 2011

I was in Feb, 2011 in Amman and again visited this place. I was glad they still keep up with excellent service and food. In fact, I saw this restaurant on CNN International, they had a program on Iraqi ex-pat in Amman and this restaurant was in the report. I enjoyed food, service, ambiance and even their restroom is superb. Worth money you spend. Definitely visit the place again once in Amman.
Note: don't order desert. They have a complimentary one. And ask for Iraqi tea (shay), it is very good.
