We checked out this restaurant and reviewed the menu prior to arriving in Israel. We asked our tour agency to book our reservation and so glad we did. Was one of our best meals of the trip. The pumpkin asado is unique and is not to be missed. The Israeli leaf ravioli stuffed with shrimp were amazing. The restaurant was busy and this was on a Wednesday. Make a reservation well in advance. This is a popular restaurant. I would certainly like to eat here again if visiting Israel.

Expensive without any special meals. Service was awful. For meal's price and the place's rating i expected more.

Good atmosphere and generous portions of food. We really enjoyed the fresh-baked hot bread that accompanied the salad courses. They refilled the salads that we found most delicious.

Our first impression was shock at the prices of drinks. It's the same across Tel-Aviv, but we can never understand why a glass of wine should cost 60 ILS in TLV but only 10 ILS in Spain. We paid 60-80 ILS for a bottle of Rioja at Michelin star restaurants just a few days ago. Back to Mashya, if you want to "save" a little - half bottles start from 150 ILS... That's not the way to encourage people to enjoy a drink with their meal.
We ordered the Prana bread but instead received a heavy dark dough bread that was less impressive than any fresh pita you get a hummus places. We didn't know we got the wrong bread until the end of the meal when we saw other, better looking breads, served to other diners. The Arugula salad was great - a beautifully arranged dish with refreshing flavors. The lamb kattayef was disappointing - 92 ILS for ~50 grams of lamb meat cooked in spices, 2 Injira pittas and a bowl of Tahini (which is nothing special for an Israeli). The bread also came with Tahini so we wondered if the chef couldn't offer more variety. After the starters we were offered dessert, and when we mentioned that we didn't get our main dishes, began a wait of more than 30 minutes. The service was unattentive, you'd ask for something simple like water or a napkin and the waiter would then turn to another table for a lengthy 10 minute talk and forget us. We noticed other diners complaining about issues, as we also did because our mains showed no sign of coming. The staff was more busy trying to appease angry customers than providing service in order to prevent more problems for other diners. We received with the mains a complimentary cooked hummus side dish that was unimpressive and was left untouched. The fillet steak was perfectly cooked however served not so warm. The shrimps main was too small with only 6 shrimps on the plate. The overall experience felt less like fine dining and more a visit to the customer complaints department. I guess the high prices create high expectations and when these are not met, people expect compensation. As compensation, a lemonade and a cocktail were taken off the bill and we were offered a complimentary dessert which was unimpressive. Perhaps that's the standard "complaint handler" dessert... We don't enjoy complaining, and we also don't like feeling like suckers. We're happy people who enjoy good vibes and good food. We concluded to ourselves that the experience we're looking for perhaps cannot be met at Israeli fine dining restaurants. The prices are just so high, the performance doesn't match the expectations and the vibe is stressing and not enjoyable

We thought the food was fine - interesting, but totally overdone. Everything we ate left us with the impression that they are just trying too hard. Too much going on in every dish. Also overpriced, but most restaurants are overpriced in Tel Aviv. We would definitely not return for the food. There was also a service issue. We reserved a table here last night for 18:30, but apparently the full wait staff arrives at 19:00. When we arrived the restaurant was fairly empty but slowly filled up. There was one waitress only, and she explained the menu and then never returned because she was busy with other tables. Then someone else tried to fill in, and then finally our waiter arrived at 19. This is completely unacceptable - if you take a reservation for 18:30 then you should have staff ready to serve at 18:30.
