“Our Pick of Tel Aviv”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

My wife and I, along with our 2 year old son, visited Tel Aviv recently for 8 days. We ate out every night, taking recommendations from the concierge at the hotel.

Of all the placed we tried, this is the one we returned to on our last night of our holiday. We really enjoyed it so much. It was just what we wanted.

The atmosphere is relaxed, warm, friendly and unpretentious. It does get a little cramped in there if busy but it feels right in the place and they deserve to be busy.

The food is excellent... the menu is not particularly extensive but you wouldn't expect it to be in a restaurant serving good, real food. There will be something on there for your taste and all of it is excellent - we loved every dish we had. The baked cheesecake is for everyone. We weren't able to manage a dessert after either meal but the last visit we had to request a baked cheesecake to take away and I wish we'd bought 5.

The staff we liked very much. I see a previous reviewer complained about the staff here. I have to say, service in general in Israel is not necessarily what a lot of Americans/Brits (in particular) like. That's a cultural thing, everywhere. But we found in this restaurant the staff were really lovely and friendly. Offering good advice on food, attentive service and a positive attitude.

The prices are very reasonable.

Wish we could go back tonight again but alas we're back in Blighty. Will definitely head straight there when we're back in Tel Aviv. To the establishment - thank you for the superb food, and for being so welcoming to my wife, my baby, and me.

“Excellent food”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

Had a good meal here recently with a work colleague. The suggestions the waiter made for what we should try were very good choices. The felafel was really good as was the tabbouleh and bread. Had the spring chicken for main course which is a small but perfectly cooked chicken with cinnamon spiced couscous that had fruits in it like apricots. Was a very nice meal. The Goldstar beer was a great surprise - a really nice beer. The arak was nice too but don't drink too much as it's very alcoholic. Thought the prices were reasonable too. We had to book to get in and even at 10:30 at night people were still piling into the place - so book ahead.

“Great Restaurant in a Beautiful Neighborhood”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

This restaurant is an institution in Tel Aviv and its easy to see why! Situated in the beautiful bohemian neighborhood of Neve Tzedek, it is a wonderful place for just about any time of day and year. During the hot summers, the restaurant's open dining space is sheltered from the sweltering heat by trees and in the cooler months, it is enclosed to keep diners comfortable. The menu consists of traditional Israeli items, including a wonderful assortment of mezzes that are great for starters, not to mention the traditional Israeli breakfast. Whether you're looking for a great spot for brunch, family dinner or coffee; this is surely the place for it.

“great food, poor service”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

the restaurant is in a beautiful part of tel aviv, probably the most romantic one. the place has a lovely atmosphere and a great natural design. the food is great -ethnic dishes with a fusion of modernity, with an artistic touch. what is not that great is the service. the staff is a bit rude and condescending, and they are not very keen of changing that in the near future. being that said, i still wouldn't miss a chance to eat there, but be prepared for a not-to-nice service.
