Our tour guide Ilyll was very enthusiastic about showing us around Jaffa. She spoke fluent English and engaged the group by asking intriguing questions about the scenery. It was especially nice to see the pier in Jaffa.

It’s rare that you follow a city tour in midday sun without even realizing the time passing by as you are listening to the guide’s words spellbound - but this is what might happen to you when participating in one of Ilyll’s intercultural Tel Aviv tours.

My sister and I had the pleasure of taking part into the Bauhaus tour in July 2014, which has been recommended by the local tourist office. It was smart time spent!
When arriving at the indicated meeting point, there was already a large crowd of interested people gathered. From the very beginning, it became clear that this is going to be a tour somewhat different from classical guided tours. We already knew some about the Bauhaus-concept, but Ilyll put the whole subject into the city’s politico-historical context around the dichotomy of Tel Aviv and Jaffa and opened up entirely new perspectives. So we really learned a lot about Tel Aviv and its foundation just as about the idea of Bauhaus and its further development until nowadays. Ilyll made us look sharply – and encouraged us to think and discover on our own. Her interactive style of communication didn’t make it feel like a lecture, but an interesting discussion actively involving everybody.
And, of course, Ilyll’s qualities as a guide are to be mentioned: Her entertaining and yet highly knowledgeable way of telling little stories and making the point. You just feel the dedication and sweeping passion she is putting into her work. At the end of the tour, Ilyll would surprise us all with a small artistic interlude and give nice tips about what else to visit or restaurants in the surrounding areas. Not to forget some interesting follow-up material via mail for everybody interested into it.

So, if you’re looking for the next level of city tours – here you go. Participating in one of Ilyll’s tours will surely enrich your stay at Tel Aviv and beyond that. It comes with our heartfelt recommendation – a standout experience!

I'm not a tour person, but I have to say that llyll kept all my attention during the two tours I took with her. The first one was about the Bauhaus movement in Tel Aviv, and it made me aware about details that I would never discover by myself. The second was the graffiti tour, and again, it was absolutely interesting. She knows a lot about the city where she lives, and a lot about art and architecture, and social behavior and politics, and the most important, Iilyll loves her work and that is why I enjoyed so much going along with her. Now I see the city in a completely different way, I can understand more, I am more curious and I have a better idea about this amazing and complex city. Thank you Iilyll!
