It is basically just a rock but if you have enough imagination you might picture the story of Andromeda being sacrificed and saved by Perseus. It is located near the Old City of Jaffa and you will probably see it while heading towards the ancient old town.

The rock itself is somewhat nondescript, but I wouldn’t like to be chained up there, as Andromeda reputedly was, accordingly to Greek Mythology. The views out to the gorgeous, azure blue sea surrounding the ancient, biblical port of Jaffa are never disappointing and it’s worth spending a few moments pondering on what happened there all those thousands of years ago.

There's nothing major to see here both literally and figuratively speaking. If you're not interested in Greek mythology, then it's just a rock jutting out from the ocean. I loved Greek mythology as a child, so I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the spot where Andromeda was supposedly chained to be sacrificed to Cetus the sea monster.

This is of some interest if you read the mythology in advance. Otherwise, enjoy the sunset from the cafe in old Jaffa.

Okay so the Rock is a piece of rock. But for me it was a sunny day and we were walking along the broad walk . There were buskers around. It's a nice talking point on our walk by the sea.

Unless you have someone (like a guide) to tell you the myth, then don't go out of your way to see a small rock...well a few of them, but nothing special.

A rock off the old port of Jaffa has been known as "Andromeda's Rock" since antiquity, identified with the myth of Andromeda and the Sea Monster by Pausanias, Strabo, and Josephus. Modern guides point to the small rock in the picture; I suspect that the ancient writers were referring to a larger rock that, though still visible, has been incorporated in modern times into the concrete sea wall. Either way, the references are another point to reflect upon as one gazes out on the very ancient harbor of Old Jaffa.

The two things that are unique about that rock are: first of all its amazing location close to jaffa port the other thing is the legend about it. In the other do not expect to see more than a small, nothing special, rock. But with a great view

You will not be able to recognize this rock is your guide will not point on it.Look at the beautiful Jaffa's streets, not the rocks.

Surrounded by old Jaffa and on the border with Tel-Aviv. This is a great place to visit and just relax. Grab something to eat and watch the ocean.
