i returned to cafe levinsky on my recent trip to visit beny to see how this little hole in the wall cafe was doing. it is doing well becoming a local hang out and also a place where people come to drink not only the excellent coffee but also beny's italian style fruit sodas. he cooks his fruit and mixes them with a fizzy selzer (as we call it in nyc). we tried the pommegranate and it was superb. i am not sweet drink lover but this was more on the tart side but sweet enough that both my husband and i found it satisfying and very tasty.
beny has also begun provding delicious baked goods baked and delivered by avinoam who works for his sister in law at meshek barzilai, a local bakery restaurant that recently relocated to the entrance neve zedek from a nearby moshav.
so nice to see a blending of local eateries. hope that meshek barzilai is taking tips on coffee prep from beny and using his cooked fruit creations to broaden their drinks offerings. next i will try meshek barzilai out to let you know!
