“shopping & eating”
Reviewed February 21, 2014

transform the old train station in shopping and eating area. They nicely kept the old train, seats & tracks. Nice shopping. I especially liked the toys shop: all are made in wood and made to tick your brain. There is also on your left hand side of the tracks the Israel Defence Forces History Museum which is huge and interesting. Be prepare to pass security before interring. Behind this shopping area you will find the old Tel Aviv of 1909 worth a stroll.

“Nice, gentrified outdoor plaza for dining, but not Top 10”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

HaTachana (literally "The Station") was once an old, dilapidated train depot that has been beautifully restored into an outdoor plaza with good restaurants and shops. The Italian restaurant I ate at was in-line with Tel Aviv prices, the service friendly, and the food very good (highly recommend the ravioli with mushrooms and truffle sauce--and the bread is fresh from the oven). In the summer months, there are free performances. In the winter, it is a nice place, but the shops are high-priced (too pricey compared to the "shuks" and not really high-end). Best when visited in conjunction with a visit to the nearby vibrant and more colorful Neve Tzedek. Between the two, Neve Tzedek is the better choice to experience the vibe of this area of Tel Aviv.

“Shopping”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

It is like a shopping center, but it is open air. It has pleasant restaurants and good stores. The day I went, it was an afternoon, it was empty. Maybe we should have gone at night...

“Fun Spot on Shabbat”
Reviewed December 13, 2013

Visited H Tachana on Shabbat because my hotel staff told me it was a nice place to shop and eat during Shabbat (really the only area open in TLV). It was wonderful! Had a nice breakfast and enjoyed the lovely shops. Tons of families and kids' activities. Stores are a bit pricey, but nice to browse.
