Was there twice within 2 days. Everything was perfect. Only one thing, the wines are a bit on the expensive side compared to other restaurants in Tel Aviv.

I sat with my wife last night at Popina's bar in front of their open kitchen. The menu is beautifully creative with a good balance of sea food, meat and vegetarian options. We had cute little prawn burgers, beautifully cooked and garnished, pulled beef cheek burgers, chilled vichyssoise soup with shrimp, salmon ceviche with pistachio uzo and yoghurt, grilled sea bream fettuccini with a foamed wine/butter sauce and to finish a wonderful chocolate soufflé. Everything was beautifully seasoned and presented. The service was professional and attentive. The kitchen is spotless and operated seamlessly.

All in all we had a great dining experience in a beautiful part of tel aviv and I highly recommend it to anyone reading this review.

Well done Popina.

Located in the trendy Neve Tzedek area of Tel Aviv, Popina seems to be one of the places to be right now. We decided to make a reservation a day in advance and were told that the restaurant was fully booked but were offered a place at the bar early evening. It was rather relaxed – and we could only imagine the buzz that was about to start when the guests for the main service arrived around 8pm.
Service at the bar was chatty and attentive, but as the restaurant was quickly filling up we could see why there were so many staff around. The place is busy, very busy.

Cocktails are innovative and moreish, food is inspired and a good mix of classics and standards with a little twist. Potato soup was the most velvety thing but was missing the earthy flavour of potato. Choux pastry filled with mousse of foie gras and accompanied by crumbs made from dried porcini mushrooms, coffee and cacao was a revelation, the best nibble ever. Popina’s take on duck spring rolls came with an incredibly tasty jus (we just wished there had been a gravy boat of it), it was pure loveliness. As for mains, the ‘special of the day’ lamb chops were unfussy and simply divine. Meaty, pure and amazingly tender, served with a selection of roasted vegetables. The scallop risotto was smooth and flavourful but could have done with just a little more citrusy zing to balance the creamy flavour.

We were enticed but not 100% convinced by our first visit, however, on our next trip to Tel Aviv we would, no doubt, go back and try again. Popina is definitely on the right track of yumminess.

New restaurant with young and creative sheff. Great ideas for known ingredients. The setting is lovely. Great outside garden. All sizes of dishes so you can eat a full meal or come late for a drink with Tapas. Either way don't miss out.
