“The most unique hotel in the heart of Tel-Aviv”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

This is definitely the most beautiful and unique Boutique hotel in the heart of Tel-Aviv.
We enjoyed 2 nights celebrating our anniversary.
The hotel is decorated in a very special way, it seems like the owners and designers thought of everything.
The luxurious rooms has warm and pleasant atmosphere.
Breakfast was delicious !!!!!!!! it was served in the gorgeous lounge were you can also enjoy lunch & dinner by the very well known chef - Yonatan Roshfeld
The staff were very pleasant, professional and provided us personal service.
Will definitely come back !!!!

I love this hotel! First, I think everything in this hotel was hand crafted or picked by someone with a big heart-- every chair, every meal, every rug, every soap, every drink at the bar, every waiter, every chocolate ;-).

If you are looking for a beautifully designed, personal real, authentic experience-- which can accommodate and customize for whatever you need, this hotel is over the top.

I was with my 3 year old son. When we arrived the girl in the front area, Maya, area saw my son peeking into the lobby and gave me some tips for touring the city with children, --and when we walked into our hand-selected room --soft, beautiful and enchanting in brown fabrics, Nespresso coffee pods for me and tiny wrapped chocolates in tin treasure boxes, beautifully designed for him. A relaxing heaven in a busy city, quiet with beautiful little balcony. I have been to so many boutique hotels, where you feel that you need to be careful with kids, this is a really fancy feeling and yet comfortable place. Especially great was the fact that the hotel is in the center of a safe and central location-- easy to get food (we went to a nearby tapas bar) and a stroll-able, incredible part of the city with great shopping, people watching, and I suspect the area where people would love to live.

Even the bathrooms, gigantic mirrors and bathtub, tall ceilings, gave every area a sense of spaciousness. My favorite place to sit was the roof terrace with beautifully detailed railings and tables and floors. My son wanted blueberry pancakes. Not sure those are actually on the menu, but he got feeling they will make you anything you ask for ;-) and they did -- effortlessly-- discreetly, without making you feel like you were asking for anything special or charging more for the customization.. (By the way, don't miss the breakfast. it is really really good)

We stayed 4 nights. My friends were staying in a few different hotels, and they kept coming and eating with us at the Alma hotel and then we'd cruise around our neighborhood and everyone wanted to come up and see the rooms (the rooms are themed and customized)... which the staff somehow managed to tidy up when we didn't notice, at all the right moments. Actually this is really the main thing I'll change next time. Go visit the other neighborhood restaurants more - and also I might stay in one room a few days and then switch, just because I wanted to see the other rooms.

The Alma experience is wonderful unique really-hard-to find combination. They say the architectural style of the building is Eclecticism (just before the famous bauhaus) -- Well is an eclectic combination-- Stunning and beautiful (which actually is easier these days), hand crafted and comfortable, peaceful and relaxing, and incredibly immensely personal.

Room Tip: If you're a design guru, ask to see different rooms because there is as much attention to detail...

If looking for a very special place to stay and the best possible luxury experience in Tel-Aviv, this is probably where you should stay.
The decor of the property is out of this world, both in terms of pure comfort and the artistic experience. Housed in a beautiful restored 1920s building, every space is meticulously and uniquely designed with one of-a-kind art work, colors and fabrics. It's almost overwhelming at the beginning until one starts discovering the little touches everywhere.

The rooms are very spacious with modern amenities and luxurious products throughout. Ask for a room with terrace, where you can sit in the sun and enjoy your coffee in a unique way. While the design stays true to the period, the amenities are modern - big flat TVs, espresso machines, wireless, etc. The bathrooms are spectacular, with 10 ft. ceilings, gigantic mirrors and top of the line bath products.

Staff was amazing from check-in to check-out. It seemed the room was looked after every hour, with staff constantly making sure everything is perfect and asking you if anything else is needed.

The property has a very popular high-end restaurant that is pretty much fully booked all the time. If you want to dine there, make sure and reserve early through the hotel staff, otherwise they will have to accommodate you on the bar, the terrace outside, or on the the roof terrace. Breakfast is excellent and beyond the buffet, the kitchen will prepare for you whatever you might want.

If you want to eat elsewhere, the hotel is located within walking distance of dozens of the best restaurants in Tel-Aviv.

Overall, over the 5 days I stayed there, Alma offered the ultimate pampering hotel experience. As much a place to entertain guests as it is a place to retreat and disappear, as the staff is fierce about preserving guests privacy...

There are a number of new luxury boutique hotels in Tel-Aviv and a lot of choice. The Alma seems to be definitely one of the very few at the top, from every perspective...

A beautifully designed hotel with a great lounge, but some improvements have to be made.
The lounge offers great food, in a very unique setting. Surprisingly, the bar doesn't offer the expected atmosphere and comfort as the tables.
The suite we took was designed in an oriental style, which I don't like, to say the least, but somehow, the attention to details made everything work and actually feel right.
The suite is not really a suite, but rather a very large bedroom. It lacks a sitting area and a kitchenette. The amenities are very satisfactory, and the attention to details is very noticeable.
HOWEVER... one VERY important detail has been neglected, and that is double glazed windows! At night if feels like sleeping in the street, with every word taken outside being heard inside. Taking into account how busy the street is, day and night, he noise is unbearable, and surprisingly, everyone at the hotel is familiar with the problem.
Until this is fixed, the hotel is simply unsuitable for a nights' stay, which is a shame, considering what it has to offer.
Fix that, and 4.5 stars are in order...

Room Tip: definitely NOT a corner room, mainly not suite number 13.

Dear Tomer,

Thank you for taking the time to review The Alma Hotel & Lounge.

I am glad to read that you enjoyed the beautiful and luxurious design in the room you stayed in. It is our pleasure to provide not only amazing rooms but great food to accompany the experience. Our lounge , led by All Star chef, Jonathan Roshfeld, is delighted to provide around the world dishes to complete the most delightful culinary experience.

We have recently double glazed most of our rooms and suites to make sure our guests enjoy a quiet and calming stay. As you mentioned you stayed in the oriental suite that was not quite to your liking. I would be happy to accommodate you in a differently themed room on your next stay.

Best,

Ilan
