There's a boom of Asian restaurants in Tel Aviv right now and Vong is relatively one of the new players. We went there last night for the first time.

All in all, the dishes were good and interesting with fresh ingredients and exotic flavors. We asked the waitress to recommend a dish of each of the menu's sections. As promised, the fish salad and beef ban were excellent. We also had shrimp dumplings which were just OK (I still can't find dim sam in Israel of the quality I had in Asia). The main dish recommended - seafood over bean noodles with oyster sauce (their website is for some reason offline and unfortunately I can't remember the dish name) was actually a little disappointing and bland - should probably stick to my instincts next time and and get a spicier dish.

Service was good, though a little slow on the outside terrace. Despite the disappointing main dish, I would go there to check the rest of the menu - I have a feeling there's more good stuff hiding there.

Sorry about the tacky title, i couldn't resist it! We visited Vong for the third time. For a reason we are still struggling to understand this restaurant is slated by the local restaurant reviewers. Seeing as we have eaten excellent Vietnamese food both in Vietnam and in the authentic Vietnamese eateries on Kingsland Road in London I wouldn't consider our standards low. Nevertheless, we love the food at Vong - the Pho Ga and Pho Bo is excellent and our lovely waitress brought us an additional bowl and ladle so that we could share the large portion rather than having to get two small portions. The rest of the dishes were very tasty - the beef bahns were perfectly prepared with the right balance of slow cooked beef, aioli dressing, herbs and spices inside a soft and fluffy bun, but really for us the best was the Cha-ca-la-vong - a flavoursome, vermicelli noodle salad, perfectly spiced with melt in your mouth steamed fish. It was a shame about the host who wasn't particularly welcoming throughout, however, the lovely waitress more than made up for his rude behaviour. With a bill amounting to 150 NIS per couple this is also great value for money.

Very pleasant evening. The service was excellent (thank you Shahar). Although not exactly like eating in Vietnam but for being in Tel-Aviv not bad. We were very pleased with the meal.

The food is fresh and very tasty, the service is extremely friendly, and the prices are descent. A great dining experience, and highly recommended for Vietnamese cuisine.

One thing I missed a lot coming to live in Israël was the great Vietnamese cuisine one can find in the Vietnamese neighborhood of Ixelles in Brussels.
I tried today Vong on Rothschild in Tel Aviv and wasn't disapointed at all. Even if they don't serve the authentic Vietnamese home food, the taste is there; The cook understood the finesse and adapted his knowledge to his originality.
Service is friendly, prices are not excessive and allow you to enjoy different choices from the menu.
