Some of the best takes on single (well: almost single) ingredients I ever had: sweet potatoes i.e. or the very well stewed beef. Very tasty food, served unpretentiously, and a beautiful crowd to look at. This hedonism just beside the great synagoge is a little awkward though (to me).

A friend in Tel Aviv took us here as it had been recommended to him as a great restaurant, as the chef is a bit of a celebrity chef in the country.

It was lucky for us that we had a local with us as the menu was only in Hebrew, but the staff was very helpful, too, and seeing the food that the other tables was eating made us want to just order everything on the menu!

In the end, we had come based on the recommendation of the French toast so ordered that, the beef carpaccio, bruschetta and hummus to sample a few dishes. Everything was delicious but we all agreed that the French Toast was the best we had EVER had. Made from challah, it was crispy and brown on the outside with a soft, smooth, eggy centre that was perfectly cooked. It was served with cream and jam, which ideally complimented the crunchy outside texture and wasn't too sweet or overwhelming with the already slightly sweet bread.

If you're in Tel Aviv, you MUST visit this restaurant!

This is a local (but sophisticated) hangout, serving good local food and beer/drinks. Nothing fancy but very simple and tasty food served to youngish in crowd. The place is jam packed every evening. Reservations are not taken so just show up and wait till the next table becomes available.
As the menu changes frequently, ask the staff for recommendations.
Enjoy!

We randomly ran into that nice place and had a wonderful dinner with excellent food. Very special! Menu was in Hebrew only, but the service staff explained every single dish and made excellent recommendations. You can watch them cook your delicious fresh meal.

Can get rather crowded. Ambience and music, good. Service is rather slow, but waitstaff are friendly. Helps to have someone translate for you, if you do not speak Hebrew.
