Fresh ingredients, interesting menu, nice atmosphere sitting two meters from the water line. Beautiful place, a must.

I've visited this restaurant/Bar a number of times. The dishes are tasty but not full size (like largeTapas). The idea is to take a few dishes and share. One can also get a reasonable wine or beer to accompany the meal. The dishes are prepared in front of you.
It is a nice place to eat a light lunch.
Highly recommended for tourists

The reviews were mixed but a reliable friend had highly recommended this restaurant so we tried it. It is located in the Jaffa Port Market, a place worth visiting in itself. It is right next to a busy, noisy well-known fish restaurant; this is the "new guy on the block" and when we arrived it was empty relative to the other one. It did fill up (around 8 pm) and it was clearly the right choice. Most of the dishes are smallish - larger than other tapas places I've been too. That was perfect for our party of 4 - we got to taste many different things and everyone had plenty. All the dishes we chose (with the help of a friendly and professional waiter) were delicious and the bill was very reasonable for this quality of restaurant.

Seated around a central grill area, the Rokach Yam serves great Bass with yoghurt and eggplant, but the seafood paella was just Ok in flavour.

You might have to wait for a space, but be patient. The waiter will find a spot for you, and he moved us when a quitter space became available.

This place had a large selection of wines that hang above the food preparation area in chrome and black boxes.

Diners ranged from locals to French, German and English speaking tourists. It was not too large to become noisy which some of the eateries in the Port of Jaffa are.

It's a pity.
We'd had a wonderful meal a couple of months ago at the bar - with friendly, attentive service and expert preparation of the food. I told everyone who was willing to hear what a great find Rokach Yam was. But tonight, when I went back for a second meal, I found that standards had crashed and burned. The service was brusque and even rude. Our party of four came happy and left unhappy - and I will not be sending anyone to this place any more.

The cook over-fried my husband's fish and chips, and then argued with him about it. (We did not relent and got a new batch.) The dish that sent me over the moon last time, a fish kebab baked in a rich smoky tomato sauce, was watery and bland this time. The crab bisque (delicious) arrived cold.
Everything we wanted or needed we had to ask for, repeatedly, and were made to feel we were bothering the servers.

Finally I went to the supervisor and asked her why the service had been so good last time and was so poor this time, especially as the restaurant was almost completely empty.
She apologized and said she would take care of us personally. Then she disappeared.

We finished our meal and waited 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes - no one cleared our plates, gave us a dessert menu or asked if we wanted coffee. We asked for a check. Another wait. Then finally the supervisor came, as we were getting off our chairs and grabbing our bags to leave, and invited us for dessert on the house.
Needless to say, it was too late.
