“One of the favourite places”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2013

This is definitely one of my (and my family's) favourite places in TA. Not that much during daytime, but at night it looks and feels fantastic. The sunken garden is very special. And the brightly lighted interiors of the Theater look awesome from outside!
It adds a lot to an impression if you know a little about the HaBima history - especially about the life, work and death of it's outatsnding famous founder Solomon Mihoels, who was killed by Soviet KGB in 1948. The pictures portraying him in his different roles are clearly visible thru the Theater glass walls at night.

“Nice to sit inside the garden”

They play classical music through little speakers in the small garden. The coffee shop is expensive but you can get the best pizza in the area at Tony Vespa right across the street, or some good coffee at Nechama Vachetzi.

“Just passing by to get to the theater”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2013

We were there in the evening, so no sun, people were out and about, with kids or without kids. We just passed by to get to Habimah theater. We watched soldier Shweik with Avi Kushnir as a main actor! It was fabulous, he is fabulous!!!
The theater itself is also very nice. Big, A/C was a bit too much, but I always bring a sweater for such occasions (yes, even in the middle of the summer). All in all, we had lots of fun, mostly from the play!

“A blinding experience - bring sunglasses”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

Of course, Habima theatre and the square itself are lovely in many ways. The garden in the centre of the square, the pool of water.

But in other ways, the renovation, completed in 2011, is so behind the times. It's mostly tiles and concrete, which are mostly colored white, and in Tel Aviv the sun is shining for most of the day, most of the year. It makes for a squinty experience, unless you're visiting at night. And it's hot as hell, like an outdoor sauna.

The absence of substantial amounts of green space in the square, and the choice by famed but elderly architect Dani Karavan to create a white tiled ocular nightmare and melanomafest, are almost unfathomable in this day and age. Tel Aviv city council now knows that this particular aesthetic choice was a serious error, but what are they going to do? The white tiles will be there as long as the architect is still alive, and he's a fit guy, so in the meantime, bring your sunglasses, SPF100 sunscreen, and ice cold water.

The square is almost unbearable while the sun is out, especially during the summertime. Which makes an otherwise lovely square fantastic at night, and disgusting during the day.

“An architecture gem”

Do not miss it. A very interesting garden design. Take your time to stroll in the new and the old gardens.
