“Great Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2011

I spent three nights in this hotel. The quality of the room was basic, and the bathroom could use updating, but the location was fantastic! Right by Dizengoff Street, one of the main streets in Tel Aviv. You're also a quick walk to the beach in the other direction.

The hotel staff was friendly, and the breakfast was the most elaborate breakfast I have ever seen at a hotel.

The Gordon Inn is not a hotel but a hostel. Rooms are crammed, but an excellent air condition provides good air quality throughout the night. Shared bathrooms are well maintained and clean. Staff is friendly and very helpful, good breakfast. We booked and payed a 5-bed-dorm, but only got an 8-bed dorm first because the hotel was totally full. As compensation we got a private double room the 2nd night without extra charge. Most striking argument however is the price - you won't find many other options to overnight in Tel Aviv for less than EUR 20! Free WIFI and breakfast is included.

The location of Gordon Inn is great, as it is very close to the beach and within walking distance of the trendy parts of town. The staff was very friendly, particularly one of the ladies at the front desk, and also the breakfast man.

The main complaint I have is that it was not particularly clean. Our room felt a bit damp, and smelled very strange (we stayed in a private room with shared bathroom facilities). The bathrooms were cleaned everyday, but they still did not feel very clean...perhaps it was the yellow moldiness of the tiles or the poop stains on the toilet bowl left by other people.... Another complaint was that the breakfast was not refilled, so that if you came too late (say, an hour or so after it opens), most of the good food was gone. We got a taste of some of it though, and I do like the fact that it is an israeli breakfast. Finally, the walls are paper thin, but luckily there were no particularly loud, drunk guests.

For what we got, I thought it was a bit overpriced. If Gordon Inn were cheaper, I might consider recommending it to budget travellers, but to be honest, if I could do it all again, I'd rather pay a bit more to stay somewhere a little cleaner and nicer.

Typical hostel. The showers are hot and nice. Reception area is tiny and busy - they could really benefit from more staff. I had to leave at 4 am (reception closes at 3 am) but they reserved a cab for me before which was great. Location is unbeatable - near shopping, nightlife, beach, and restaurants.

This was the WORST place I ever stayed the only good thing was location but if you enjoy cockroaches as roomates, stained sheets mould and bugs in the shower by all means stay here it was so bad i camped on the beach my last night! The staff were rude and never gave me the refund they promised people smoked in the building through the bathrooms while i was showering it was honestly disgusting and i was backpacking and had been for 7 months prior all around the USA and Europe...

This was the first place we stayed in Israel at the end of Feb. 2011. There was a problem with our reservation when we arrived in the middle of the night but they went out of their way to fix the problem. The location is great near several restaurants and cafes as well as walking distance to the beach. The bathrooms and room were not fancy but that was fine. Tel aviv is such an expensive city that to get a private room at that price was a good deal for us. The breakfast had a lot of options with tuna, potatoes, hummus, breads, tahini, yogurt, and several other items. The only thing that we had a problem with was wi-fi in the room.

Stayed in the Gordon in their dorm room. Fine service, clean enough, and quiet. The breakfast was fantastic and the location is handy for the beach and bus stops. Not many bells and whistles (altho wifi was nice), but great value.
