On University campus....extraordinary museum...of history...(take enough time...not that many folks around to direct you)...each corner you turn something revelatory awaits....was last there when it opened in '78....a foundational museum to visit

This huge museum tries to tell the 2000 year-old story of the Jewish people from the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70 to the birth of Israel . It is a huge task and there is much to see here. I felt though that the richness of Jewish life in countries as far as China and Brazil was scantily told. Inevitably there is much on the Holocaust and the many pogroms against the Jews but as a British Jew, I wanted to know about life as well as death. There is hardly anything on the Jews of Britain and nowhere near enough on the 600 years of Jews in Poland. That said, there is tons to see…highlights the models of synagogues around the world.

Especially liked the dioramas of major world synagogues. It was kind of hard to get there by bus and difficult to find the museum once we got to Tel Aviv University campus.
