Since its founding in 1932, the Museum has served as one of Tel Aviv’s major cultural hubs, displaying a vibrant mix of permanent collections and temporary exhibitions in a wide variety of fields – painting, sculpture, prints and drawings, photography, video, architecture and design.

A large part of the Museum’s permanent collections has been generously donated by artists, art patrons and benefactors. The holdings are also complemented and enriched by numerous works and collections entrusted to the Museum, which serve as a testimony to the extraordinary international support this institution receives from dedicated collectors and friends around the world.

How appropriate to have an art museum that is a piece of art.

The museum shares a a plaza with the Israeli Opera and a major theater group. The site resented an architectural challenge because the footprint was limited and there may have been height restrictions. the architect finessed the situation by having the part of the museum below the Plaza level much larger than that abovel. The shapes of the building components are wonderful and a contrast with the old museum building which is still used for exhibitions.

Art is a matter of taste, and while some pieces may be distracting others are grand.

This is worth a visit. It is currently a set of collections from many parties, donators, etc. that provides a unique view on many topics and ideas. Low cost, very easy to park and not crowded. Also near good restaurants and other attractions.

Excellent collection of modern and contemporary work in a beautiful setting. Not a must see, but excellent if you have the time.
