Hayarkon 48 was the first time i've stayed in a Hostel. I arrived late evening when all the drunks had passed out so first impressions of the place were good. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful through out the entire stay.

I reserved single room with a private bathroom for my friend and I. If you're like us, and aren't too comfortable with the whole 'sharing' thing I would highly recommend reserving a private room. The room we stayed in was on the highest floor (stairs only) at the end of the hallway away from all the commotion and noise. The room was decent with a queen and twin size bed, had a nice spacious clean bathroom and a massive balcony. It was almost like being in a Tel Aviv hotel except it was considerably cheaper and there was more noise.

What makes this place great is the location. You'll never find a hotel this close to the beach with Hayarkon prices. Hayarkon is pretty much central to everything touristy, bars, the beach, shops, etc…

I loved Hayarkon 48 from the clean bathrooms to the friendly stoner dude behind the counter. The hostel is walking distance to the beach, Carmel market, and Jaffa which are pretty much the highlights of Tel Aviv (other than nightlife). I went during the off season (January) so I never had any issues with availability, but I hear that in the summer it can get pretty packed. It also wasn't that loud while I was there, but again it sounds like during the summer the place is a party. Hayarkon was a lot nicer than most of the other hostels/hotels that I stayed in in Israel with an emphasis on clean. This place was clean! Not eat off the floor clean, but you know... hostels can be gross.. this one is not.. for which I was very appreciative. They also have 24hr reception and lockers. Big pluses. Would definitely stay here again.

The hostel is well located and the staff helpful and very friendly - big point in favor. Bathrooms exceptionally clean and the overall tidiness (to my relief) was noticable. On the other hand the dorms were rather small and crampy.
I think they should be more honest with describing the breakfast as toasts and tea/instant coffee or improve it somehow to "justify" the rather expensive price of the dorm night.

The hostel is in an excellent location one block from the beach, close to Carmel market and walking distance from the main boulevards and Jaffa. The hostel has a secure front door (although the buzzer entry was only sometimes used), 24 hour reception, and a good kitchen and communal area. The showers were very good and clean. The private rooms have a TV. The rooms were a little cold as I was staying during very wintry weather but there were plenty of blankets. The staff were very nice and helpful - when I found the lock on the balcony door did not work it was fixed the very next day and, although there was a crack in the glass in my patio door, the staff patched it up straight away. The hostel has a friendly atmosphere good for people travelling by themselves, without being noisy. They were also very responsive to email queries before I arrived, including recommending excursions which were excellent. Very much enjoyed my stay.

I stayed at Hayarkon 48 twice during my month in Israel.. The hostel is located 1 block from the beach, in a decent part of Tel Aviv.. Both old Jaffa and the Carmel market are walking distance from Hayarkon.. My stay was in December which is the off season, thus the hostel was not very crowed.. I stayed in a dorm room, which was large enough for everyone's backpacks and belongings.. There is a large balcony that connects all the dorm rooms and overlooks Hayarkon Street.. The rooms as well as the entire facility was very clean, as were the bathrooms and showers.. The showers were the best that I had while in Israel, with the shower rooms being very large, and always having hot water.. The hostel has a large common area, with a big flat screen tv with satellite service, as well as a pool table.. The kitchen was also large, with full cooking area, and two refrigerators to store your food.. I came back to Tel Aviv before my flight to the USA, and stayed at Hayarkon 48 a second time, because the first visit was so pleasant.. I highly recommend staying at Hayarkon 48, and will stay there again when next in Tel Aviv..

I was (am) so unfortunate to get to Tel Aviv in the worse weather this year (and in years they have told me) so the option to walk around the city wasn't really an option and i ended up staying a lot inside the hostel. The hostel came up with lots of activities to do in bad weather such as movie night, poker tournament...they have a nice TV room with many DVDs to watch, board games and a nice kitchen which avoids having to get out in horrible rain to eat :)

Besides, they had tons of information about indoors activities outside the hostel for us to do.
The staff was very helpful and answered everybody's questions and requests, which were a lot since everybody was staying in, which on the good side meant that you meant a lot of people in the common areas

The hostel is really clean and all the staff speaks very good English. It is true, the rooms are a bit cold but the moment I told the receptionist about this, he gave me an extra blanket and problem solved!

I will definitely come back and I would recommend this place to anybody traveling in Tel Aviv.

Room Tip: If you smoke, make sure you ask for a room with balcony

Was there 3 times.
Its located less than 3 min. From the beach ( great!!). Has a rooftop for drinking n hanging.
Prices are ok.
Mostly clean.
Wlan avalable.

Disturbing:
staff will ALWAYS talk english with you, even if you re a israeli n talk to them in hebrew ( wierd?!).

Dont go there in winter!
Windows are not sealing at all, cold and blankets are crap for winter.

All in all: cheap solution , but with a lil more money you got much more.
